Supermoto offroad tyres?

  1. Hi all,

I have a KTM LC4 Supermoto bike and I am planning on taking a long
vacation trip with large parts of it off-road (mostly country dirt
    roads, nothing too technical).

In this context I wonder if as an alternative to buying complete
odd-road wheels with dirt tyres, I can find knobbies that can be fit on
the Supermoto rims. I realize that handling will not be perfect due to
fat front, but I think it's still better then riding on slicks...

Anyways, I checked tyres that are fitted on things like TW200 and stuff
    - unfortunately the rims are 18" there. So far the only tyre that might
fit seems to be Continental TKC80 that the big BMW GS come with. I am
still not sure about the rim width - mine is stock - I think 4.25.

Any comments on this idea? as anyone tried/seen supermoto on dirt
    tyres? Which ones?

    Thanks!

I think the rims are 3.5 front 5.0 rear, but icbw. I'd look no further
than the TKC if they do them in the right size. The rear won't be a
problem but I'm not sure about the front - email/call Conti & ask.

Here is a recent post that describes a 525 EXC with SuperMoto wheels
running Pirelli MT 60s front and rear. You might want to email the
    author for more info.

QUOTE: The bike was phenominal in the turns, I was literally laughing
in my helmet. The Pirelli MT-60 tires I put on did really well in the
dirt, too. On hard-packed dirt roads with loose gravel on top this
set-up was faster and more comfortable than even with knobbies.UNQUOTE

If I had Supermoto wheels these would probably be near the top of my
    shopping list.

  4. Actually MT60 is what I got now. OK, there're better on dirt then
slicks, but they still are all over the place even compared to lame
    dualsport knobbies like MT21...

What I am looking for is "real" knobbies that could be put on the 17"
supermoto rims. There gotta be something like that out there.

I am running the D606 Ruber and am really pleased. Pretty stable as well a
little vibration considering the size of the nobs
