    G'day guys,

Like the subject says give Supermotard bikes a try as they are a fuggen
    buzz.
I purchased a 02 KTM 640 SM from new in May of 02 and now have 18000k's on
it and have never had so much fun with my pants on. I still own a 86 K100RS
which I love doing long trips on, but I was not getting the rush anymore
from bikes like I used to. I test rode a R1 and a GSXR1000, great bikes,
superb handling, but where do you use it except for the race track.

Fair enough that the KTM doesn't have the mumbo of the bigger bikes, ( 50
hp rear wheel and 154kg wet weight ) but around town and up in the hills
where the corners are signposted from 25 to 50kph there is no equal.
I ride with a bunch of blokes in the hills of the Gold Coast and have
watched these guys cut up these large sportbikes with ease. Not me of
course, as I just carry the water and the oranges down the back.

The only down side is that you have to use sticky road tyres to get the most
out of them. Tyre bill for the last 15 months works out to $1800 . ( bugger,
bugger, bugger ) . The upside is that when you put it down the road, like I
have done three times due to the wrong type of tyres, there are no fairings
or bodywork to damage. Total cost of three getoffs works out to about the
    $400 mark.
