well i agree with you about torque , alas they were only puting up hp
figures, thats what i put up

how about a power to weighht ratio then , seeing as most harley weigh a
    fucking ton

not a bad day, apart from usual tattoo'd knuckle draggin attitudes , at
least i can appreciate all types pf bikes

  6. Corks, can I jump in here a minute?

Torque isn't the final word on performance, but if someone wants ots of
torque, all they need to do is find a big thumper. There's a reason why
they're nearly impossible to find anymore, though. I get my grins from
acceleration and great handling, not pulling stumps, and it's horsepower
    that accelerates, not torque.

At 205 hp/liter, the R6 is one of the most efficient machines I've ever
ridden. And at something less than 400 pounds wet, with a fantastic
suspension, and 123 hp to help me out of turns, I get my thrills from
mountain passes and river roads with lots of twisties. When you need to
change direction quickly, or stop quickly, or want to go quickly, lightness
is called for. And horsepower. Extra points for great brakes.

the harleys went up on the board with model and specs

mine and a couple of others simply went up as "jap"

    sigh.......

nuffin our lose any sleep over tho

besides the look on their faces when a moe of less stock "jap" did 160hp,
    was well worth it

That'd explain why Ducatis are so lacking in power compared to their jap
    equivalents then...

I wonder if they knew that the power is limited in 1st and 2nd gears so you
have to do the dyno-run in third.

  12. Resale values only matter for something you're willing to resell. Not all
    bikes fall into that category.

who gives a flying **** about resale values , the dyno wasnt measuring
resale values , it was measuring hp

besides just because some knuckle dragger spends $40k on bike , doesnt means
its worth $40k to anybody else ...... or he gonna get $40k when he sells it
    .......

Me thinks you might benefit from looking at what Power is mathematically.
Contrary to your view torque is quite important, but it's the rate at which
it produces this torque, or the rate of change of torque that gives us the
    real kick in the guts.

Power = Torque * Omega (where Omega is the rpm in rad/s)

Anyhoo, you need good torque and the ability to spin the motor up quickly
(ie, well engineered, free breathing, good cam timing, and all that good
    stuff) to produce good power.

Anyone who has ridden similar capacity bikes will often wonder why some
bikes feel a lot more powerfull than other even though they show similar
numbers on a dyno. It comes down to how fast the motor spins up and produces
the power. If it's very quick revving you get a much bigger kick in the
pants than a slow revving slug that still may have a lot of power, but just
deliver it in a timely manner.

He'd probably get more back than if he'd spent it in this year's
GSYZXCBR1000RR... (and a shit-load more than if he spent it on LAST year's
    model!).
