Because I've just come home from GLF with a load of winter kit.

Halvarssons waterproof trousers to replace the manky old winter
trousers I bought from the NEC a couple of years ago which whilst warm
weren't the most comfortable things to wear and a pair of Daytona
Roadstar GTX boots to replace the waterproof boots that left my feet
wet and cold at the Elefantentreffen this year.

I only went to buy a pair of boots but after Adie decided that the
boots would make a suitable birthday present I felt obliged to spend
some of my own cash and the trousers were an obvious choice.

Adie also ordered a new pair of boots and a pair of Goretex trousers
so Graham will probably be able to afford a takeaway when he heads
    home tonight.

    <Looks at pile of GLF-bought clothing>

That appears to be the standard UKRM purchase at GLF at the moment.

I'm hoping the Halvarssons trousers will be as good as they appear to
be. I've not heard anyone complain about their kit and all I want from
them is to be warm and dry when I go and pit myself against the worst
the winter can throw at me next year.

The Daytonas are a proven piece of kit but whenever I tried Daytona
boots before they felt a bit too narrow for me whereas these ones felt
just right so I didn't bother trying any other boots on.

I thought it was the road sign which is circular with a white background
and a black slash across it. Indicating we can "Go Like ****!"

Won't he look a little strange riding along with a welders mask / googles
    on?

Which ones did you get? The normal ones or the Safety ones?

I've got the normal ones in fat bastard size so they fit over my work
clothing. While they don't *feel* as warm as the MJKs they're replacing,
I've worn them through the winter here and haven't been cold. The
Halvarsson safety jacket I've got seems to manage the same trick of
keeping you warm without cooking yourself at the same time.

So far, both my jacket and the trousers are standing up to the usual
    shit not-quite-spring weather very well.

    The normal Cobra ones.
They claim to be warm in cold conditions and cool in hot conditions
but I'll wait until I've tried them before I confirm that.
    Sounds good.

Ahhh... must be pretty good then given how far some of the regs who
reputedly go there are from it, unless of course they're popping in whilst
    'in the area'.

I'll give you a bell if I'm coming over but it's a bit doubtful due to
me still being full of man flu.

Can I use the "I need to clean my KTM" excuse as a back up? I really
need to get it a bit sparkly asap because I might be looking at
getting rid of it soon but details about that aren't for general
    viewing.

They are that good. I've had it with HG kit, Graham offers a decent
selection of kit and actually understands what he is selling, unlike
spotty yoof in HG Maidstone. That place could seriously do with being
    Lozzo'd.

In my case it was the GLF stall at the NEC bike show - Flitwick is a
bit far from Wearside. The MJK jacket I got from them must have done
30k+ miles by now and is still going strong.
