  1. The day started fairly well, understood everything that was being said
in the classroom (thanks to prior reading) and did fine at maneuvering
through the cones, had a bit of a problem doing the figure of eight
because I was going to slow but once I sped up I did OK.

Emergency stop went OK except I kept putting my right foot down every
time I stopped instead of leaning over to the left and using left foot.
Then came the pulling away which took me a while to get used to the rear
    observation, indicate, lifesaver.

Left and right turns next the same I kept doing my lifesaver too early,
anyway as there were 7 of us one of us had a one on one with the
instructor this was me and I thought oh no they've spotted I'm not doing
    so well I'm doomed.

Anyway I was dreading going out on the road didn't think I would do the
lifesavers properly and would fail, as it turns out I did the rear
observation OK and indicators but missed the left lifesaver a few times,
I totally cocked up a roundabout + failed to cancel my indicators a few
times + put my right foot down a few times.

He asked me at the end how I thought it went and I said "oh fine,
considering I've never been out on the roads before on a bike and that I
    would gain experience"

Anyway I got my CBT cert, one poor guy a 16 year old couldn't complete
the course because his new chinese scooter failed on him during the U
turn and it wouldn't start from electric or kick start he had to go home
    (gutted).

At the start one aussie girl left her insurance cert in friends car and
didn't know if she could get hold of it, lucky for her, her mate came
back and she was able to participate, another blokes name was spelt
differently of 3 important documents and they nearly didn't let him partake.

On top of that a different bloke didn't have a provisional for a 125 for
couldn't ride his bike had to ring daughters boyfriend and borrow his
50cc derbi which turned out not to be in best condition.

    What a day!

Cool. Have fun with the scooter.
Even a 50 can be a laugh though it probably won't be long before you start to fancy something a bit quicker.

Took to the road for the 3rd time today, the first was riding back from the
CBT, the 2nd was a visit to a friends in St Clement and the 3rd was a trip
    to Gorey Castle.

I live in St Helier and Gorey is 8 miles away according to my odometer which
now reads 128 km where before it was about 104 km.

The road is pretty much a 40mph coast road with various bends, set off at
12:45 and was back at 13:55... seemed to take awhile to get there but it is
8 miles each way after all.

I pretty much had the road to myself apart from a bus which kept stopping in
front of me, I am slowly gaining confidence that I won't be killed everytime
    I get on the bike.

The bike is plenty fast enough to get from A - B.

You think this now. But it was never about A-B and if it was it'll grow
into some evil disease called bigger, better, faster, more-itis.

he lives on jersey which has a blanket speed limit of 40mph and no decent
    roads anyway.

  8. Went to St Ouens bay today, set off at about 13:00 and was back at 14:45,
its an 18 mile round trip (9 each way) it was a nice ride and the sun was
out when I got there. Stayed for 20 mins or so before heading back the same
way, I've done 66 miles now since before the CBT on Saturday so my tank must
be about half full, will need to stick a few quid in it soon.

what about your navel, much fluff in it today or mostly clean?

  10. Mostly clean

but seriously I think riding a 50cc scooter with top speed of 28mph is
actually safer then riding a bicycle, for starters your wearing the
protective gear on a scooter where you might not even wear a helmet on a
bike and since your doing 28mph you can pretty much keep up with the
traffic, my 2 stroke was bombing up a few hills today at over 25 - it
didn't seem to be struggling. Of course the only bad things is if
someone pulls out in front of you at a junction or you get hit going
round a roundabout or while merging.
