It usually pisses down. I'd rather do Catalunya.

You could even take a bike if you wanted to be different.

Hop on the overnight ferry from Portsmouth to Le Havre and it's 150
miles to the circuit so hardly a long way. You could leave home at 6pm
and be at the circuit by 9:30am so no need to even use any holidays.

    Nah, it'll never happen.

Other makes will go (it is, after all, a town rather than a
self-contained rally on private land), and bikes like Indians are more
than acceptable (if rather rare these days), but it's basically a Harley
    rally.

Them are the ass pirates. They don't ride, they trailer and then trash
their bikes at the local pub. Many of us do like to travel a bit, but
that doesn't make for entertaining telly.

The wording was deliberate. If you really love a place, do
you wish to visit it when it is overrun with ass pirates?
I like riding there when there are only a few of us on the
    roads.

I know some lalds that used to go to the 24 hour race every year and
they used to reckon to get to the circuit, pitch tents and go to sleep
for a few hours then after the race they'd get the evening ferry home
and go to work on the Monday morning to recover.

Horses for courses innit? If you want to bimble about on straight roads,
their choice of bike is probably the right one, but if they want to play at
being Rossi, they'll need a different bike and some of them septics can get
    round corners pretty rapidly.

But Sturgis isn't even about bimbling, it's about posing, ergo the
    trailers.

I was referring to the location, not the number of people.
    Think "Doris Day".

We went in 2007, on the XJR. Wasn't overly impressed with anything other
than the sheer number of bikes.

They didn't bat an eyelid at the XJR or the RF900 Jean was riding, if it
isn't a hardly then it does not exist.

We had more interest in the Pegs at Thunder Beach( Panama City, Florida)
    this year

It will be even better when they are handed back to the native Americans.

I remember the HDs being stuck on a dyno at Daytona Bike Week. One in
particular sticks in my mind - a fucking loud racket, followed by a
load of whoppin' and a hollerin' as it made.....73bhp
