Sturgis..

Some program on discovery about some fat yank biker festival, thousands of
fat rednecks on shite bikes.

The main event - burnouts until the tyre explodes.

They dont really understand motorcycling in the states, all chrome & no go.

 

I don't understand motorcycling as you seem to know it.

 

Riding it for a start, not doing burnouts & having fun.

 

It's one of the few biking events around the world that I rather fancy
attending. From what I've seen it looks like quite a spectacle.

What's wrong with having fun?

Burnouts were one of the essential parts of the Bol d'or for many of
the (drunk) attendees.

 

Nah show them you're different and turn up on a honda cruiser.

 

Well, quite, but these nutters had a competition to see who could **** the
tyre in the best way..and that seems to be the highlight of the festival.

There were a couple of shows for custom bikes, but i didnt see any other
bikes apart from cruisers doing burnouts.

You can do that at home on your drive

I might be interested in doing people watching there, but /since/ the Black
Hills are one of my favorite places, I doubt I will ever go to the Sturgis
Rally. It's a fantastic place to ride a bike, it's just that I'd rather
not share it with so many other people. I hate crowds.

 

If you really want to show how different you are you turn up on a bike and
leave the trailer at home.

 

That'll be because it's a Harley rally...

So what?

At the Mugello GP people take bike engines on crates with 8 foot tall
megaphone exhausts that spit flames, and they run them bouncing off
the rev limiter until they explode.. It's all part of the amusement.

 

And at Le Mans this weekend...

Really? it didnt mention that on the tv prog, but there were loads of non

It is part of the fun, but not the object of the whole day.

 

Yeah saw that. Was interesting to hear Toby Moody mentioning this
morning you can get all the way there from the UK on train and tram
without walking more than a few hundred yards. Might be one for next
year.

 

You don't see a connection between the name and the marque then?
