On my mates Kwak Z750. Key goes in ok, but won't turn, exactly like its
the wrong key, but it isn't. Been soaked in penetrating oil, but not
looking good. Normally a bit of blowtorching might be in order, but not
    in this case :(

    Anyone any ideas?

  2. Undo the bolts holding the filler cap assembly to the tank so you can work
    on it?

It doesn't help. The bingly bits actually lock into the tank, not the
flashy surround. What *is* that surround for?

Is it possible to poke a paper clip in and jiggle each tumbler to make

This while sloshing with WD40 or anti-seize stuff, to wash away the
filthy deposits that will have accumulated.
Could be just the one that is stuck.

That's what I thought, but putting the key in would move each pin fully
across. Ahhhh...It's the return spring on one of the pins isn't it. It
gets pushed across, but never returns.

Has he tried REALLY pushing down on the flap while he attempts to turn the
    key?

Yes! And they can be right stubborn little buggers too, especially if
the return spring has rusted into nothingness.

Don't put WD40 in a lock; it'll create a grinding paste with dust. Use
a carbon lubricant or, failing that, ptfe not light oil. To clean it
    out use brake/clutch cleaner.

However if it's fucked... who cares.

But maybe the "Who cares" is meant as "If the lock's fucked, who cares if
you use something that's going to *eventually* **** up a good lock?

Yep, the bingly bits definitly come clear of the surround.

Quite, when it comes off, I'm quite prepared to dissassemble it and fix
the pins/springs, but I fear it will be a terminal experience and its
    coming off in bits.

The idea is then to get a new cap and get a locksmith to rekey it, but I
still have some slight hope for getting it off.

Plus Gas may be best in this case and it creates les problem in the long
    term.

If it is a stuck pin and there's any springy left behind it, maybe vibration
will persuade it to move. Place a piece of wood on the top of the cap, set
drill to hammer action (no bit), and hammer the wood. Maybe the vibrations
will unstick the pin. Watch your paintwork.

It was just a thought coz after I'd removed mine to paint the tank, it was a
bit of a twat to undo. The whole lock affair was sitting *just* that bit
higher and a little more pressure was all it took to get it open and closed.
