Yeah yeah, whatever. Can anyone explain where the term "streetfighter"
actuallt comes / came from (I don't get it).

Oldbloke let forth with a mighty belch and uttered :
At a guess, it came from rebuilt bikes that lost a fight with the street.

I beg to differ, it's a "fight" to get the bloody thing above 35mph on the
    "street"
    (much like your GS ;))

NB: When does BOTAFOT season reopen?

Nice and sunny up here this morning. Off for a walk in the woods now
    with
    ''er outdoors' ;-)

Me garlic's started to sprout already, very warm January Oop north.

We'll enjoy it while we may before the Gulf stream fucks of to Spain and
    leaves us in permafrost.

It's the result of a bike having a fight with a street and losing.

    Almost.
A streetfighter is the bastard spawn of a cafe racer and a chopper.
As for the etymology, it probably comes from the Starfighter,
    which inspired its handling.

Apart from it (and all the rest if them) looking as if they've been heavilly
shunted from behind bending the rear seat frame up at an odd angle..... "you
crazy kids with you're crazy stying..... whatever next".
When I t'were lad, streetfigters were painted matt/hammerite black with
    either straight bars or renthals.
