strange wear pattern

  1. A few months ago I managed to drop my KTM off the rear paddck stand because,
like a tit, I'd forgot to put the side stand back down before removing it.
Today I've removed the drive chain to give it a proper clean and have
noticed a strange wear pattern on the rear sprocket, it's hard to describe
accurately but at the leading edge of where each link would meet the
sprocket there's a slight lip (a fraction of a mm deep) where it's worn
leaving an impression of the link on the sprocket. The front looks
completely normal I've checked the other sprockets I've used and none are
    like this.

I don't think it's front/rear alignment as I'm pretty thorough when it comes
to that. What I'm concerned about is that the drop (and subsequent tangle of
paddock stand around rear wheel and swingarm) might have twisted the
swingarm so the wheel is now a degree or two out of alignment in it's
verticle axis. Is this likely and how can I check this with any degree of
    accuracy?

    <snip>

Has your bike got one of them chain guide things under the
swing arm like most off road machines? If so, that might have
got bent and the chain hits the sprocket a bit "off".

    DAMHIK, IJK,OK?

Well, does it do it on other side of the sprocket? If so then it's
    unlikely to be bent.

I *have* seen a twisted swingarm (once), and that was pretty obvious
by sighting along the bike from the front, with the steering centred.

Is it an alloy sprocket, and do you use the bike off road? If so then
it could simply be normal wear & tear - my YZ's sprockets do this.

  4. It's a stealth sprocket - steel outer and alloy centre. It's not used off
road (Dukes aren't really designed for that apparently).

The other thing that's different is I'm now running a non O ring chain so
maybe it's just more play in the chain it's self as they do run quite slack
due to the amount of suspension travel. I'm probably just being paranoid as
I've not seen wear marks like it before and it came off the stand pretty
hard as I gave it a pull toward me at the time to make sure it went the
right way. Which it did - just slighty further then expected :).
