Riding home this evening I looked at the dash and noticed the tacho wasn't working. Strange, ok this morning. Stopped at a roundabout, down to first, revved the engine and it was fine. Still fine as I shifted up the gears again. Wierd. CBR600F --
YTC#1 wrote in 1999 CBR6 that I owned had an electronic sensor on the front sprocket. [1] If the speedo & rev counter fail to work then its most likely sensor (or wiring) related. If the speedo works but the rev counter does not then its probably a problem in the instruments. Intermittent suggests cabling. [1] I've no idea about earlier ones
I have a 98 model and I have only just bought her so I'm not sure. I'll pull out the haynes and take a look this week. Speedo was fine and tacho is now fine, as it usually is. First time I noticed it wasn't working. I plan to give her a look over this week anyway so I'll check then. --
I had a spider in my speedo once which spun a web around the needles etc . This caused a similar situation and was a pain to remedy.
Thats why I asked, it was obviously a sports type bike and you know I know nothing about them..... err well, anybike really
Martian wrote The one I had was sensible enough to build its web between the end of the red zone and zero. It died of old age.
Martian wrote I didn't know[1] spiders did that. [1] Good innit? Once more ukrm brings enlightenment to the hard of knowing.
A good indicator would have been the number of little exo-skeletons it had grown out of, assuming of course that it had a supply of food.
They do, you'll occasionally come across an example when cleaning (this is of course dependant on personal preference) under the bed. Looks like dead spider but hollow. Glad to be of service. I have shed loads of other useless trivia just itching to be shared.
