Before I put the bike away for the winter, should I:
    (1) fill the tank with fresh gas plus "Sta-bil" & run it until the mix fills
the carbs? (and if I do, will I have to drain all that out in the spring?)
    (2) drain the tank & carbs?
    (3) leave it as is (just a bit of gas in the tank & carbs) & worry about it
    in the spring?
Seems to me if I drain everything, all the seals will dry out & crack. In
the past, with other bikes, I just parked them, and in the spring, dosed the
old gas in the tank with some lacquer thinner, which replaced all sorts of
lost volatiles and cleaned out any crud. Always worked, but now I am more
    concerned with this bike....

Yes. That and change the oil. And if you want to, put some fogging oil
in the cylinders. But for sure, put in the StaBil and run it until the
    mix is in the carbs.
No. It will be absolutely OK to run it like normal; I do it every
spring with no ill effects. In fact, I use StaBil-ized gas year 'round
in the bikes I ride less often and in things like weed whackers that
are stored more often than not.
You're better off with the tank FULL; no chance of condensation, thus
    no rusting of the tank.
That's another option, but StaBil is easy to use and very effective.
I've stored many motorcycles for many winters using it with no
problems getting them to start in the spring.

For the *best* answer to the question, go to
    http://www.clarity.net/~adam/winter-storage.html and follow Adam's
suggestions. That's the best write up on motorcycle storage I've ever
    seen . . . .
