I've got a stream in the garden, & the liquid from the septic tank
runs into it, so I've got an endless supply of pre-fertilized water.
Perhaps I should plant some along the edge of the stream & see what
    happens.

Otoh, I definitely remember reading somewhere that tinned toms are
    better for you.

  2. Possibly, if they have been pasteurised. Cooked toms contain more of some
    anti cancer agents or something.

  3. As a lad in the 20/30s, my father and his mates used to collect plants
that grew wild on the banks of the canals (effectively open sewers) that
run through the East End and sell them to the locals for whatever kids
spent money on in those days. At that time it was know that toms could
not be sold in the veggie shops and markets of the East End of London
because everybody grew them in their gardens.

The seeds seem to be able to survive passage through the human gut quite
well and even today you will find then growing as a weed at sewerage
farms. Certainly when I had an allotment, on the areas I dosed with
treated sewerage[1] toms were a common weed.

[1] We had an "divert from it's destination as landfill arrangement" with
the contractor who took it away from our local processing plant for the
stuff that was produced during the xmas shutdown of the local industrial
    estates.

[2] 51 weeks of the year and the final product was distinctly grey and
liable to contain a lot of solid industrial waste. The stuff from week 52
had a much higher paper pulp content and was brown. Noticeably a different
    product.

    In communiqué
You might not even have to plant any.

  7. Ketchup and paste are. Honestly. Higher lycopene content because of the
    concentration.

Funny. I just bought some fake bloo^h^h^h^h tomato paste. Guess I'll
have to put it to use.

Yup, clinical trial suggested that processed toms stave off the unkindest
cancer of all. So it may be generally beneficial.

Tesco organic Passata I recommend. The new Waitrose doesn't carry an
equivalent yet. Very nice it is, I can drink it straight from the bottle
though it's niver over some spag.
