  1. In uk.rec.motorcycles, Christofire amazed us all with this pearl of
    wisdom:
How did you work 3.5 out?

I've got a pair of Gericke boots. What score does that give me?

Mains. And I've got a little wooden box with bits. It's cut wood,
stone and metal. It's next outing will be a bit of polishing and I've
    plans.

Becau'se every time you think you've got the little ****'s trained, they
go and crap on the grammatical carpet.

    Grinding's too good for them.

I score 0 - I don't even use an angle grinder (too clumsy and imprecise).

However, I do have an Outfit, Para boots, open face lid, Mk 8 goggles,
Belstaff, diesel 'under' gloves, a canvass satchel and a workshop.

I score 5 on the sweller scale - unless para boots don't count if
they've been converted to roller skates by bolting castors on the
    bottom.

It may be a cordless one with a rechargeable battery bit. I get mixed
up with which of the power tools is cordless (which reminds me must
have another look at that makita and see if it is the charger or the
power pack that's dead) and which are the ones where I have to
remember not to get the cable in the way. (which reminds me I need to
    get my strimmer back)
There's this leaflet in the box about how you can cut pretty faces in
flowerpots. And you could probably sew with it if you had a suitable
    attachment.

I looked at it, thought it's pronounced wreak, typed wreak, it looked
wrong, typed wreck back in, told myself, ah well must be one of those
funny homi wotsits, when I knew it was wrong, went to swap it back
again and then I got distracted by trying to remember if it was a
homny wotsit or a symony wotsit I meant, then I got distracted again
because I was trying to work out which one was which by going back to
the Latin root, then I remembered someone had used sanguine and wasn't
that a lovely word and after that it all goes a bit blurry.

See explanation and have pity on me. It's not fair you two sit up
getting pissed and come out with utter beauties and I'm just a bit
tired and I can't remember which way the words go anymore. Right, time
    for bed.
