  2. Oh look, a couple of hysterical little nuts are obsessing over
me and I almost missed it!

Mikey, this thread is posted to *three* newsgroups. You should learn how
to use this forum before you reveal anymore of your idiocy. But to answer
your question - obviously you give a ****, or your wouldn't have bothered
replying and revealing that you're a hysterical and whiny little nut case.
Yeah, we know, wormy. You spammed rec.moto about twenty times
with your endless and childish screaming about your killfile and
how you can't ee HHH anymore.
Your killfile doesn't affect the people from whom you're
hiding, wormy. They still read and reply without restriction,
and they don't disappear. Kinda like when an ostrich buries it's
head in the sand out of fear and confusion. The adversary doesn't
actually disappear. See, the ostrich's simple mind only "thinks"
it has. I can't believe I have to explain this stuff to you,
    wormy...

It doesn't even depend on the things you mention above. I think it boils
down to simple economics. Can you imagine the hit to the nation's economy
if we raised the bar on licensing requirements and took 5% of current
    drivers off the road?

  11. Andy, if you have sufficient interest, run a deja vu on him, and see what
his history of posting has been. You and I don't always reach the same
conclusion, so I don't want to color your perceptions. For me, I find him
to be both Anti-American, and a person who's life is primarily dedicated to
hating the government. I haven't checked his home page at Cornell, where
he works as a lab technician, but it used to be photos of President Bush
(which he spells Bu$h) with pictures of a chimpanzee. And that's the
lightest, most indirect of his statements. Hansteen attacks posters in
order to get a reaction, and then he has a series of links that he posts in
most of his postings which he utilizes to spread propaganda in a hateful
manner. The comparison is off the wall, obviously, but it sets the tone,
    IMHO.
I saw that. And I knew from your reaction that you haven't lived through
the Henry H. Hansteen posting history. The reaction you read was from
someone completely fed up with Hansteen's history of postings. This is not
a Nixon, or a Phil Scott. This is an apparently intelligent person with a
    malevolent agenda.
Unless you feel a strong interest in seeing whether those of us who have
"pounced" on Hansteen are picking on an innocent person, you might consider
being glad you haven't spent much time on his diatribes, IMHO.

He does have some defenders..... Phyloe, and maybe Alan Moore spring to
mind. But even they are selective in what they defend of what he says.

I have a lot less interest than I used to, but for a while I wanted to stop
his efforts at spreading disinformation and abusive spins across motorcycle
(and other) newsgroups. I've given up that pursuit, but I'm not at all sad
that others are stepping up to stop him.

    Just my .02.

  12. But only as a method of creating a small amount of credibility as an entree
to posting his anti-American diatribes, with all of his slanted links. Then
he goes back to his usual style. Or at least that was correct until I kill
filed him. I think he's the only person in my kill file.

  13. I've always enjoyed researching all of the new motorcycles, test riding
them, reporting on what I've learned, and buying one of the latest and
greatest. Then I become bored with what I have, and start the process over
again. I think it is the chase that's more interesting to me than the
reward. Consequently, I came across as a rich, dillitante (particularly
when I was a lawyer) who was looking for recognition by disposing of my
lightly used leftovers on the internet. No one here knew me when I hit the
streets at 16, and had to put myself and then my family through life,
including eight years of night school while working full time and supporting
a wife, then family. No one here knew me when I lived in the federal
housing projects in Pacoima. No one knew me when I was travelling 250
miles a day selling bonds, then going to law school at night, then trying to
support a wife with medical problems. That was a long time ago, on the way
up. They just saw the rich lawyer, dumping bikes on the proletariat. It
earned a lot of abuse. I'm sensitive about it, because I thought I was
being a good guy, and was reviled instead. But that's all history at this
point. I think you finally get to an age where you stop wanting people to
recognize how hard you worked to get where you are, and you just enjoy being
    there.

However, it IS rare that anyone spells my last name correctly. : - )

I've followed some of your tough times, and it's good to know you are still
    riding.

  14. Hi, Larry L.

Glad to see all is well with you. I'm curious to know where the clip-ons,
and seat are now, that you made for my 929.
I'm off bikes. Maybe permanently, although I'm never sure of that.

I'll pass on all things HHH. I really have no use for him.

Still have the same stereo set up? Probably the best speaker placement I've
    ever heard.

    Regards,
    Larry

  15. Sky King makes some decent metal inserts you can put in replacing the black
plastic inserts. They look better, and actually funnel some air under the
seat. He also sells some quick release pins for the seat, which helps when
checking the battery, or hooking and unhooking a heated vest. I have
generally cut off all the rear license stuff, including the light, which
takes some of the mass off the rear end. But yes, that is a draw back.
That, and the rear brakes. However, the sound of the triple, and the front
brakes, are sooooo good that everything else becomes secondary.

Part of the brand management problem, at least here in California is that
there were combined Triumph/BMW dealerships, such as CalBMW here. BMW
didn't like that much, and forced the dealers to divide up their showrooms,
or drop Triumph as a line. Too bad, that.

I'm still torn as to whether Ducs or Trumpets sound better. But it's close.
Plus, if you're an old guy like me (I know you aren't, but some of us are)
we've had an old BSA or Triumph in the 60s or 70s, and the name brings back
    pleasant memories.

Thanks. I'm doing great now. I'm getting really good at avoiding
Suburbans. After riding 26 years, I couldn't see any sense hanging up
my spurs. As for the name thing, I've married a last name no one can
pronounce, so I'm used to it. Glad I got yours right. Always nice to
know the people harrassing you can at least spell it right. :)

  17. What's the difference between someone who sustains a head
injury on a closed private road or track, and someone who
sustains a head injury on a public road? None. They both
come with the same "societal costs", etc. The same ambulance
crew will come pick up the victim. The same officer will
investigate. The same insurance company will foot the bill.
If you think it's acceptable for people to judge what risks
to take on their own property, why not on public roads as
well? It's not like they're doing something that imposes
    any risk on others.

Guess you don't watch much racing then. NASCAR has been using 6 point
harnesses for quite some time, as would, I imagine, same with F1, IRL, and
    CART.

It's been done before. Good luck; you'll need it. In spite of the rise of the
nanny state, the inevitable march of history is towards more human freedom; not
    less.
You're just another pimple on the ass of the greater good of mankind. One
assiduous swipe with the right fingernail, and you and your ilk are history!

Happy Thanksgiving, and remember.... wear *all* your protective gear while
riding, whether compelled to by Uncle Sam or not!

  20. You seem to be assuming that because I oppose laws that mandate helmet
use I would choose not wear a helmet when I ride. This, as are so many
assumptions, is incorrect. I understand the protection that helmets
afford and would continue to use them even if not required by law. I
also rode with my headlights on when I owned motorcycles that provided
the ability to turn them off. In both cases, I find that I don't need
legislators deciding how to best manage the risks of motorcycling and,
unless it is shown that I am infringing on others' persuit of happiness,
believe that they have no business making those decisions for me.
    Yeah. Sure.

I find it simple-minded to be willing to throw away personal liberties
and that it is a childish fantasy to think that doing so will not result
in legislators continuing to remove those liberties if not stopped by
    the citizens they supposedly represent.

Name calling is simple-mided, too, and attempting insult by mangling
other's names is very childish. And while I'm at it, it is rude in the
extreme to continue posting off topic political articles, far more rude
than was my query to which you are really responding, Henry. In fact,
you have been so rude for so long that I don't feel I will exceed you
by suggesting that you stick it all up your ass.
