  4. I recall arriving at work in French's Forest in Sydney in the late 80s
on my Ducati 851 and pulling into the studios to find another
motorcycle parked, where I normally put my bike, with a guy in full
leathers standing there. I had never seen Stone so didn't know it was
Sandy Harbutt. I was working for an independent video production
facility at the time and the job for that week was for me to edit a
trailer for a follow-up to Stone that Sandy had written. They'd shot a
five minute segment from the script in an effort to get it off the
ground and use the trailer to get finance.

It also involved the Toecutter from Mad Max 1 (can't recall his name
    now).

After talking to Sandy (well we were stuck in an edit suite together
for 12 hours a day) I did go and hire Stone and watched. Very cheesy,
but yeah, very much a cult movie. I think I enjoyed it, you just have
    to lower expectations and laugh.

Oh, and the sequel never got off the ground. Maybe it was my shit
    editing :)

  5. Stone never really took off in Melbourne because it was a Sydney production.
Whereas, Mad Max produced in Melbourne, took off well and look where Mel
    Gibson is now
well, don't look at where he is now, but look at all the money he has made
    since Mad Max.
I went to see Stone, mainly because we had a run to Sydney each year and
sort of knew the place, so wanted to see if I could recognize anywhere.
Disappointed when the sequel didn't happen, but then again, it was a Sydney
production and they really don't have a clue when movie production is
    involved.
For that fact, they don't have a clue when any sort of TV production is
    concerned

Looking forward to Mad Max 4, if it ever gets off the ground

Toecutter from Mad Max was Hugh Keays Burn; Toad from Stone. He died in
Stone so maybe he comes back as his long lost twin brother.....

Maybe Stone should have been compared to Plan 9 From Outer Space...

Generally speaking, sequels can be worse than the original (the exceptions being
Back to the Future ones). So, perhaps it was a good thing that Stone II wasn't
    made.

Ahh; is THAT what they were!!
Damn; I missed a fairly clever joke. (Not that I'd ever seen a copper
on point-duty before I saw Stone)

  12. Okay Nev, then like you, I have not been in the CBD for quite a while,
although I have walked through and up and down Lizzie Street a few times, I
haven't taken any notice whether the cops were there or not.
