Stolen Honda Chaly CF70 - can anyone help?

Discussion in 'Classic Motorbikes' started by HondaChalyCF70, Sep 1, 2003.

  1. All,

I've been trying to track down a stolen Honda Chaly CF70 for literally years
and I thought I would try these newsgroups as a long shot.

If anyone has better ideas of how to find this motorcycle then please let me
know - other e-mail contacts, web-pages, newsgroups etc.

This motorcycle was stolen in Scotland, UK and could be anywhere in Europe
(or the world) or indeed it could be now scrap - in any case knowing
anything of its current whereabouts would be useful. Before saying that this
is impossible to find I'm hoping that someone reading this can offer some
clues - the UK police have found nothing and I'll be honest and say that I
have no idea of how hard they tried. Also I need to point out that this was
my brother's motorcycle and I'm posting the information in hope that I can
    assist.

*_*_*_* This bike should be fairly easy to recognize due to its distinctive
    colour *_*_*_*

    - the bike was refurbished and resprayed in a distinctive "HAWAII BLUE" in
~1990 - this was a metallic, deep ocean blue colour - see photos below. It
was believed to have been spotted about 4 years after it was stolen in the
same colour and may still be this colour today.

Last riden by owner: Scotland, UK in ~1991
Believed to have been seen near CHESHUNT, North London, UK just off A10 in
    ~1995

Pictures of the bike are located here - ALL help appreciated:

Side view of motorcycle (this photo was touched up to remove the rider):

View during respray (slightly better view of resprayed colour on front
    forks)

If you know of any details relating to this motorcycle then please let me
know. My brother still has the tax book for this motorcycle and the ignition
    key.

Any help or further advice appreciated.

    Regards,
    HC-CF70

  2. TOG,

thanks, I knew they were all related somehow - didn't honestly know they
used a lot of the same parts.

Given that I'm pretty sure I spotted the same bike ~4 years after it was
knicked I thought I'd try my hand at seeing if anyone had ever seen it
since. I can't even begin to understand where to post this information
further in hope of looking for it - *** do you know of any (North) London
Monkey bike or Chaly clubs I could contact? ***

It's always hard for any honest owner of an item to understand that no
matter how perfect their bike may seem to them, there's always some bar
steward tempted to steal it and break it for parts - I haven't had much
stolen in my time but unfortunately there are people in the world who
consider it okay to steal and sell components in this manner and I'm sure a
laugh, wink and a few nods later between some scum and it's all gone without
    a trace.

Any further help, suggestions would be useful?

    Regards,
    HC

  3. Bastards would steal anything in those days. I'm still trying to track
down a Corgi Tank Transporter some heartless bastard lifted from my
    back garden in 1962.

By this time, of course, it could be anywhere in the world -
especially some third world country where such a thing would be
    invaluable for spares/scrappage.

Green, it was. A distinctive shade of BAG.

You are bloody lucky that I have my ear to the ground mate. Here it is but
I'm afraid the pikey scum did a ringer on it and tarted it up.
