    How? Please explain.
Umm. This guy is riding around on a nice 954 fireblade which he got for free.
How does that make him less intelligent than the rest of us silly kunts who
save shitloads of money and hand it over to bike dealers for the same end
    result?
Mr Honda already thought about it.

You'll look less of a bellend if you just cut & paste answers rather than
scripting them yourself... there's the off chance that the original author of
your cut & paste knew something about motorcycles.

Heh. Yeah, right. Clever, young, fast, above-average riders are really
likely to listen to stupid, old, slow, below-average riders, aren't they?
Earth to James, Earth to James.

Even Ulysses with 20,000+ members, all old and responsible people, only
getes minimal discounts for ebing a 'club'. Insurance companies will charge
what the market will bear, and will assess their risk bike by bike,
    demographic by demographic.

    Grin......James receiving.
Reckon it's time you guys got really organised and gave
those bloody insurance bastards a shock. Why not look ofshore?
Anything would be better than what you've got right now. 20,000+
members would equate to quite a lot of premium money with
not too high risk. It's got to be of interest to a few overseas
insurance outfits. Don't give up too easily Cones. They
are making easy gravy out of decent bikers right now.

I can understand your point, but most of the arguments against insurance seem to be
from a hindsight perspective. If we knew in advance that we wouldn't have needed
insurance over a period of time then who would take it out at all? Essentially, when
you pay a premium you are making a bet that you will need the insurance. The
decision to insure or not depends on whether the bet you place matches how likely
you think the outcome is. Personally, I am happy to bet about $700/yr that I will
need to replace my 929 blade. For me that is a reasonable amount of money to lose
each year. The bike would cost $10-11K to replace.

For sure, if I could have insured it for that little amount of money I would
have done it as well, no questions asked. Some quotes were up to 6k per year
for me on that bike. Thems the breaks.

Hey, it's ok, I'll build myself up again, get more bikes, it's just a minor
setback. ****, I'll live to a ripe ol age I'm sure, plenty of time to ride
    yet!

Earth to James, earth to James.

Why would the demographic with the most affordable insurance premiums bother
fucking around to get more affordable insurance premiums?

*shrug* The only demographic which seems to get screwed hard is the
young-squids-on-pocket-rockets, but let's be honest, how much would
_you_ bet them that they wouldn't crash?

    Point taken Nev.
Seems we are getting conflicting signals here.

I'd agree with you that older bikers with acceptable
premiums wouldn't want to upset their good deal by
complaining on behalf of the young at risk riders, so
they (the youngsters) will just have to pay up and shut
up until they become older, or as in the OP's case, just
    don't bother to have insurance.
    (And suffer the consequences.)

Bugger of a situation. Young bikers should only buy
cheap bikes until they reach an age that enables lower
insurance premiums. If they want expensive bikes they
will have to pay for the privilege, as we've all had to in
our younger days. Sorry young guys, can't help ya.

You've progressed very quickly from asking stupid questions to becoming an
    authority on the subject, James.

    Well done.

Heh heh, Cones you should try to read what I said, from a different
    perspective.
What seems obvious to the uninitiated (you) is not allways what's meant.
I thought you aussies considered yourselves experts in sublety, irony, and
intuitive thinking. If I had asked the oldies not to help the youngies,
    their
response would probably have been just the opposite. What came out of
the discussion was an admission that aussie oldies are selfishly guarding
    their
low cost insurance premiums to the detriment of the youngies.
As an oldie, I suppose you will now try to deny or defend............
    Yawn...
