    Hey People

I just had an interesting phone call from the Police. They happened to see
my motorcycle being ridden around the other day (almost 2 and a bit weeks
after it happened) out west somewhere.

The rego plate is UVE-94, 2003 CBR954RR, Black on top, red down the bottom.
Ventura rack fitted, and it used to have a broken gear shift lever, however
I imagine they've sourced a replacement, so I'll be scouring the wreckers
tomorrow to see who may have purchased one or any records of it.

They gave a decent chase until it became too dangerous and then he escaped
down a footpath somewhere. Still, it's nice to see my baby is still out
there, perhaps there is hope yet!

It was apparently in very good nick, no panel damage and it hadn't been
fucked up etc. Hmmm ... damm ... so close!!!!

    Just a bit more info.

It was actually sighted today, being Tuesday 24 August, in Ashfield Sydney.
It happened to get away after going down a footpath. Bummer :(

You sure it's not one of those Cop lies? "Yeah tell him we've seen it, make
it look like we actually do work".
Who the **** would even bother chasing a Fireblade? Unless cops now have
    standard issue R1 police bikes...

are you sure that you would want it back after some arse has been flogging
    around on it ?

So you expect police to actively reunite stolen bikes with their owners..
...and yet you think it's futile of the police to attempt to actively trying to
reunite stolen bikes with their owners...
...and show apparent ignorance at the ability of a cop on a big BMW tourer.

Nope, police report has been entered into the system and everything. They
wouldn't bother with something like that for the hell of it. Too much typing
or pieces of paper to write out.

Errr, they are the police and I would have given chase to a stolen car as
well. If it's stolen, the guy might not have been able to ride too well, or
perhaps could have fallen off, anything, or they could have successfully
trailed him somewhere. As it was he only got away as he went down a footpath
between a few blocks or something.

I know it's a different story had the offender run into an innocent person,
but it's not like they shouldn't give any chase at all, just perhaps when
things are getting out of hand. Still, if the prick that stole it slides
under a bus and my bike is crumpled I still have the satisfaction the he'll
    get fucked up.

....but more importantly you'll be able to identify the culprit and sue his
estate for the replacement cost of your bike, and get a new one :)

There are many fine European vehicles at the disposal of our
nation's finest ... some of which will comprehensively flog
    anything on two wheels ...

I think the cops were chasing it cause the exhaust was too loud and they
want to get some $$$ out of the rider. Not because it's a stolen bike.

Cops will do anything to raise revenue.

He said down a footpath. Could be an element of gutter-jumping, garden-
    ploughing or bin-crushing there.

  15. Since it is not insured, you might want to try this.

Here is another avenue for you. Check the tradingpost for the last two
weeks and call everyone that has the same model as yours listed.
Theives sometimes call these people and ask them if their bik has been
sold, if they reply YES, they then ask the seller to forward any
numbers to them for leads to be friendly. It makes for almost zero
    traceability.

    Cheers, James.

Why pay a fifth of the bike's value in insurance when only one-in-100 get
    stolen?!!?
Sometimes you lose the other 4 fifths but if it doesn't happen twice in
    five years you're still ahead!
