place to get tires in SF.
KC Engineering at Harrison and 3rd.
Yesterday I called and asked if they had a match for my front tire, an Avon
something or other. She said no but that she'd order one for me and that I
    could get it today.
I called ahead to make sure, ( yes that was me in a cage on a cell phone...)
and sure enough it was there and had a tag ith my name on it.
I arrived, handed over the wheel, walked 200 feet to the ATM across the
street and by the time I got back, all of 7 minutes later, the tire was
    mounted and ready to go.
Occasionally I hear people grouch about this place, but in the 25 years or
so I have been buying tires form these folks, they have always given me a
good deal and done the job quickly and without complication.

Come to think of it , if I had a dollar for every tire I have bought there,
    I would be rich!

I got nothing but good stuff to say about KC. So there! I have said it.
( I am not affiliated with KC , just a customer)

I have noticed that they *always* have an ad in City Bike for employees,
and that they don't want "dealer slouches" or "druggies." I don't
particularly think the people who work at dealerships are slouches. But
whatever. I guess I'd consider letting them do my tires.

I look at this way. If there were a more correct and smiley place that sold
tires seven days a week for less than anyone else, and usually has the tires
on before I can count out the money, I would consider giving them my
    business...
But the fact is that since I started needing motorcycle tires back in 1967,
most if not all the places I have done business with ( excluding KC ) ...
charge more, take forever to do the job, don't have it in stock, but will
"try to get it for you", argue with me about which tires I need for my bike,
**** up my rims, mount the tires with the tread in the wrong direction,
forget I even exist, act like they are doing me favor for taking my money,
are closed when I want to buy something and so on.
Maybe they already hired some doper dealership slouches but would rather
have them go back to work at that place on Pine Street.
The ads are definitely a bit odd. But I am not interested in working for
    them, I just want tires.
Besides, Lee Ann is a very nice person to do business with and always treats
me with respect and courtesy. What else can I ask for? Other than good
    service, selection and price?
