Does anyone know if it's possible to adjust the operating mechanism on
a Givi Box. Turning the key to allow the handle to pop up has become
harder, to the extent that the plastic moulding around the key has
crumpled. Before I start to take it apart does anyone know if it is
adjustable. I gave it a squirt with WD40, eased it a bit but soon
tightened up again. All ideas welcome.

    Thanks

  2. This was last weekend's job since, my 22000 mile Givi had become almost
impossible to open. This is what I did - YMMV.

Take the mechanism apart completely (remove 4 screws inside box holding
locking mechanism) give it a good clean then lube with an appropriate
grease; the reason its sticky is quite probably due to the fact that there
are several places where metal slides over metal (lock barrel for instance)
and that its extremely easy for water, grit and general shit to get inside
    the handle.

In true HBOL fashion, reassembly is the reverse of disassembly!

Total time for job: 1 hour ish

    Disassembly: 5 minutes.
Finding bits of mechanism that dropped out during disassembly: 2 minutes.
    Cleaning & lubricating: 2 minutes.
Working out re-assembly order: 1 minutes
Re-assembly (ensuring all 4 screws align, handle meshes correctly with
    latch, etc): 50 minutes.

    Good luck

It could also be the barrel of the lock. Lubricate with graphite
    rather than oil/grease.
