Stay away from American Kawasaki of Garland in Garland, Texas!

Unfortunately I found out the hard way that they have the worst
    reputation in the Dallas metroplex.

You will get thoroughly screwed if you deal with them.

Not just my opinion either. Check out their "UNSATISFACTORY" rating
    with the Better Business Bureau.

They are apparently proud of their rating - they have maintained the
    unsatisfactory rating for years.

My source at the BBB said that American Kawasaki does not even bother
to reply to letters sent to them by the BBB in behalf of customers
    they screwed.

Evidently you are a newcomer on this n/g.. Just a few days ago, the
discussion included this dealer in the metroplex.. as being an undesireable
place for the consumer.. Their practices go back a number of years .. I
haven't had personal experience with them and can't comment to first hand
knowledge.. These are the type dealers which should be avoided and exposed..
There are many reputable local dealers that merit support.. Too bad that
your experience was bad .. Would love to have more details as to what this
dealer did ... Thanks for the post..

I am new to this forum, and did not see the previous post. Bill, could you
repost it for me, or give me the date so that I can look for it.

I would love to thoroughly describe the situation, but because I need to
talk to my attorney regarding possible suit against them, I dare not say too
    much in a public forum.

All I can say at this point is that they did hundreds of dollars in damage
to my bike while it was in their shop for repairs. They admit to doing it,
but they will simply not make repairs.

I see that Bill is apparently from Irving. I have had absolutely no
problems with the Kawasaki dealer there.

The thread was a few weeks back and the Garland dealer was specifically
mentioned by someone .. I will have to search for it.. Be happy to.. I have
known Sammy White and his people for more than twenty years.. I have never
been able to do business with them.. Even though Sammy is considered to be a
friend, it is my opinion that his business consists primarily of police
vehicles.. That being said, his shop and sales staff is geared for that part
of the business and it isn't geared to the ordinary biker trade.. Their
accessory dept. is very limited .. The mechanics are prima dona's and will
not accomodate timely repair, even for tire replacement or other
emergencies.. The prices are reasonable, until the bottom line.. Then they
are considerably higher than competitive dealers.. After sales service is
another problem .. I have been in their shop when only one police motorcycle
would be waiting for parts and a generator would be the only things there..
The mechanic would tell me that he couldn't change a tire until the
following thursday of next week.. No thanks.. they will have to earn my
business.. They will not offer a discount.. So much for Sammy White's
Kawasaki.. I have bought motorcycles from the dealer in Denton, Grapevine
and in Arlington.. All have been competitive price and they have offered
good after sales service and have accessory dept.s with good reps from
different mfgs.. The Kawasaki dealers in Plano and Garland both have bad
    reps..

Thanks for the info on dealer reputations. I have only made purchases at
the Irving dealership, but have had no shop work done there, so I would not
    know about their service department.

I would venture a guess that there was no discount involved in your
purchase.. If you'd care to send me an e-mail, I might be of some assistance
in your search for a good dealer.. Keep in mind, however, even though I
enjoy a good relationship with a certain dealer, the next guy may not like
them at all...I ride a '96 Vulcan and constantly upgrade and replace
suspicious component.. I have relationships with other dealers in the
metroplex.. LOL.. been around a long time and know someone in most of
    them... Good luck...

    Hey Ice -

    I'm not a republican, or a democrat. I don't drive a Chevy,
or a Ford, and my bike of choice is not japanese or american.

Amazingly, Bill and I kind-of get along. He does get a bit feisty
    from time to time, though.

Hm. How about Democrat, ride a Suzuki (from 1980) and drive a
    Volkswagen? :)

Well, I've been waiting for a chance to try and sneak my way into a ride
with you guys. Unfortunately, the bike needs a little more care than I
have time to give to it. In the spring I may be looking to get a brand
new bike (as in, less than 10 miles on it when I get it!) and then perhaps
I can keep up with ya. ;-)

Maybe after I have a bike I don't have to devote a lot of time to, I can
slowly fix up my current bike. Who knows, maybe customize it! LOL

None of which makes you a "bad" person, Eric.. LOL.. The IceMan and me would
not discriminate .. With all due respect for my friend, you should know that
neither of us have ever had a cross word (although, I don't know how he puts
up with me, at times).. He obviously has excellent taste in all respects
other than his choice of pickups and politics.. mmmmm .. Sure wish there was
more like him around.. Guarantee, our state would be a better place to
live... Of course I credit most of his good character to the better half..
She does keep him stable and responsible.. LOL

The wife just had to be reading over my shoulder (another trait of a Genral
Motors owner) when I read this.
now I am going back out to the couch in the backyard to sleep and try to
make since of at what point in my life I lost control.

With all due respect, my very good friend.. please pay close attention to
that fine example of womanhood.. As you very well know, your only hope for
redemption will be the recommendation of her (I possibly would infer a good
word or two).. To the business at hand.. I am sure that the tires have been
periodically checked on that ol' Honda you ride seasonally.. Seems the
weather forecast people have misled us again, and I would like to be assured
that you will be taking that fine lady on some day rides that she can
enjoy.. In the event of sporadic foul weather, you might be well advised to
drive the Buick since we are all aware of the inconsistent performance of
Ford products.. Totally unreliable and especially during cold or wet
conditions.. They don't perform extremely well, even in dry conditions, but
on ice and snow, it is tantamount to placing you life in God's hand.. Your
posts bring me happiness and cheer, during chaotic times in which we live...
LMAO... if that isn't enough b/s, just hang loose for a bit and I will take
another nap, before I fire up the Vulcan to see how cold it is...

Gee you guys are having fun! I know it is not at my expense. :)

It's not funny what happened to me. My bike went into the shop for a carb
overhaul due to a rough idle. Routine right. Wrong! They kept it for 65
days and I got it back severely damaged.

I am sitting here looking at the weather say it is 64 degrees outside and
wondering what the hell we are doing sitting here looking at it being 64
    degrees outside!!!
I think I am going to fire up the Honda and let it breathe for a bit. Amy has
the hart and soul of a dragon but the the skin and the acclimation to the
weather of a Pill bug.She will curl up on herself as soon as it hits 70.if it
gets any lower she is wrapped up in blankets and trying to get me to light a
fire while she turns on the heater. I have been riding with her in the buick
and I will have the AC on max cold and she will have her side set to max heat.
This is not a well woman we are talking about. We went riding last week when
it hit 73 out. she complaind that it was too windy. but when it is 110 out and
we go to enchanted rock she says it was comfortably warm and I should not
    sweat so much.
She loves to ride as long as there is someone up front to keep her from
getting fragged by a bug. Did I mention that she voted for Clinton twice (and
you would even admit that was not the democrats finest hour.) Not too mention
I saw her plotting a scheme to get me to get rid of my truck and get a GMC 1
ton. I told her I would meet her half way and get an Excursion. so that seems
to have quelled her intrest in my vehicle choice for the time being.
She does allow me to tell everyone that I wear the pants in the family and
that I am the king of the castle so I cant complain to much

Fine figure of a woman and a blessing to you, my esteemed friend and
companion...I unwrapped the old Vulcan and aired it out for a short little
errand run.. I don't think the temperature has risen out of the forties up
here. By the time I sat thru one of the drive thru lanes at the nearby Bank
of America, I noticed that my knees were knocking and I was shivering
through my sweats.. The knocking knees alarmed me somewhat as I kept leaning
forward and down to see what the hell was wrong with this damn motorcycle..
The lady in the little pickup next to me was staring at me, so I politely
smiled and assured her that I was perfectly alright.. I think the rude bitch
gave me the finger or something else.. The line moved and I lost sight of
her for a few minutes .. When I finally got back to the house, I believe the
temps dropped into the 20's because I would swear my hands had frost on
them.. I would heartily recommend that you should immediately trade that Ol'
pickup in for a nice little GMC because I am truly distressed at the
thoughts of your being left stranded in the extremely harsh winter weather
we are having in Texas.. I am sure that just the knowledge of your driving a
more dependable vehicle would cause the little woman to be much more
agreeable and it would be such a comfort to her...

You are right on two points.. IceMan and I enjoy each others company and we
do have fun, hopefully providing a little humor to this otherwise morbid
bunch lurking on this newsgroup.. The second point is that it is certainly
not at anyone's expense .. (I hope).. To your immediate problem, if you
would like, I'd offer to trailer your bike to a shop where I know the
mechanics are efficient and would have it running like a watch, in just a
short while and for a fair price. I might even be encouraged to offer a bit
furthur relief in the form of going to Garland and whipping some asses in
that no good dealership, if I could depend on you to hold my jacket for me,
while I am so engaged...I don't have any money, so if it is financial relief
you need, I might refer you to my friend IceMan.. I am given to understand
that he is gainfully employed.. He is a very understanding and caring person
who delightedly assists anyone who can manage to get in good with his bride,
since she is actually the one who handles the money.. He has the reputation
for donating motorcycles parts and accessories to deserving (and some
undeserving) individuals who can merit the good wishes from his wife.. Truth
be known, he donated the trailer to me and is presently having it built for
me in a fabricating plant in Mt.Pleasant.. That is so that when I pull
people's motorcycles around, I can be assured of the peace of mind in
knowing that I am not pulling a worn out old used trailer... I recommend you
contact him directly and without furthur delay.. (NO. not Tom).. Seriously..
if I can help, please let me know..

65 days for a carb job? I'd have been screaming after the first
week!! How badly is your bike jacked up? Is it just the carbs, or
    are there other problems?
