Starting your own toolkit - what's the best way?

My Snap-On top chest was made in 1989, but it's been very well looked

I went to get a new passport today. Handed my docs over with my old
passport and new pics, and the lovely lady behind the Post Office
counter told me I looked younger. I caused a few ripples of lauighter
when I said loudly :

I have 1/2" drive hex drivers. I can't recall ever having any access
problems (used with, as you say, various extensions, etc). But that's
working on European machines.

 

This has been treated like shit. It's even lost the badge on the
front. But, heh, it was free.

I used to fling an old blanket over the box before I strapped it into
the van, that way it didn't get scratched and it was out of view.

I started strapping it down after my previous tool chest had made a bid
for freedom when I rolled an Astravan at 80mph. Somehow it missed my
mate who was sitting in the back of the van at the time. My boss told me
that the dents caused by the tool chest had probably caused more damage
to the van than the deer I hit, the road and the ditch I ended up in.
The old tool chest was fucked beyond repair afterwards.
