Ridding myself of this shite BMW is my next objective.

I want a shafty sports tourer with a decent amount of grunt so I'm
considering these two bikes as about the only options outside of BMW.

Taking the ST1300 for a ride tomorrow.

Haven't found a demonstrator FJR in the area yet.

Wrong power to weight ratio (for me)

Far too big, slow and ugly.

I need a bike that does motorways and central London with equal ease.

how about a guzzi, I had an 1100 sport, carb model as I don't care for
injection (I bought if from another imaginary norton racing single
rebuilder of note for those of you waiting to snap at my ankles) as
reliable as a tractor, didn't have stupid top speed but would and did
cruise at a ton all day and night with great mpg, only downside was it
was a bitch in town traffic compared to a jap, but on A roads made you
feel like a god... sold it because either it went or the licence
would, proper hooligans bike, esp with the full raceco/termignonis etc

you should at least give one 50 miles on a test ride before dismissing
them, and it'll be a binary decision when you do, love or hate.

So why not share it with everyone?

Three months? How does it take three months? Oh, you're in a boat.

Were you 15 or 17 at the time?

Did you do a thousand miles a day on it?

Did you boil the chain in chip fat?

Did you remove the disk brakes and replace with drums?

you forgot the imaginary classic race bike builder angle, who, being
imaginary hasn't built engines for everyone from sheene on down, and
being imaginary never owned a guzzi to sell me in the first place.

I hope you're female, that at least would explain your bitchiness, esp
    if you are a lesbian.

A 1996ish K1100LT fitted with a decent rear shock and progressive fork
    springs.

None of the horrid late BMW bike problems. Great build quality.
Handles nicely with the mods. Much better fairing than either. Cheap
    spares. Cheap to buy.

    £3495 for a 1994 L ? Seems a tad high?

Oh, but that's potentially believable. It's the other stuff that isn't.
That's the best you can do?

Test rode both for work and they feel very different. FJR is lighter
faster and sportier. Almost unbearably hot in summer. Pan is ok but a
bit lardy. Also has the famous high speed weave.

you disappoint me, or is it dawning on you I might not be bullshitting,
just talking about things outside your reality.

  18. There is a definite whiff of deep-fried chewing gum about some of your
    stuff. Not all, just some.

No, it's not dawning on me, nothing's changing except the degree to
which I want to respond rudely/aggressively/reasonably depending on my
    mood and the context.

Some things you post are truthful. Some are slightly exagerated and
    others simply aren't.

You're not so remarkable as to be 'outside of my reality'

You probably had the Guzzi and the TR1. You didn't ever strip down the
Honda 750-4 in 1973 in the presence of TT luminaries. You *might* have
been there when an older brother, father or family friend did it, you
might have passed spanners. You may have cleaned up in a workshop where
this was done as a saturday job. You may have stripped said bike around
1978-1980 and have discussed it with some old giffer you know who said
    "Matchless did that" or somesuch.

You never did The Lizard to London in 3 hours or whatever it was you
claimed. You probably did it in 5 on several occassions.

You never did the inter-stellar mileage you claimed as a courier but you
    probably worked as a courier.

    etc. etc. etc.
