SR500 Club Rally in 5 days

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Dave Milligan, Nov 14, 2004.

  1. Right, now that I'm home from the Fish Holes Rally and a weekend of
rain, rain and did I mention the rain. New jacket is waterproof. Bewdy

    How's my mate Speedy?

Who's going on Friday and what's the Melb group meeting place and
time.....and from memory Moike's route looked a goody.

I've been invited to go with some SR500 club members but until I know
the route they're taking I'll reserve my decision.

    Kind regards
    Dave Milligan

  3. I was/am thinking a 9.30am - 10am start, although I'm not fixed on any
particular time, but the idea of lunch at Whitfield does appeal
because I've never stopped there before. I hear it's a good meal at
    reasonable prices.

I certainly won't be rushing - as long as I get to Bethanga in time to
pitch the tent before dinner I'll be happy.

    Kind regards

Only problem was Moike didn't think he'd be able to leave till 1pm which is
getting a bit late in the day. I think most of the other starters will be
meeting on the northern edge of town about 11am, which would allow time for a
leisurely ride the interesting way (but it might be a bit late for lunch at
    the Whitfield Pub).

Yeah, an earlier start would be better, but that sheila from Tasmania needs
time to fix his hair and nails apparently.

Can't, got a wedding. Pity, I've been meaning to turn
    up for years.
I'd be careful which of them you go with, some of them
    look quite insanitary ...

Yeah, I have to supervise an exam in the morning. If I can get away
from work at about 11.30, I can be on the road by about 12.

I'm planning on going via Diamond creek, St Andrews, Kinglake, Yea,
Mansfield, Whitfield, Beechworth and Talangatta. I figure it should be
about a 5 hour ride, plus stops.

If anyone wants a latish start and a bit of a dash, give me a call on
the day, and we can meet up at (say) Diamond Creek, otherwise I'll look
out for a bunch of layabouts at Whitfield.

I'm coming over on the fairy, which is supposed to dock at 0700, so, given
its recent form, I might just make a northern-suburbs meet by late morning.

Damn! Knob has beaten me to a double-entendre. There really is a first
    time for everything, it seems.

What have you got against Bateman's Bay, Kings Hwy, Monaro Hwy (OK, I'll
admit that one is awful) Cooma, Adaminaby, Cabramurra, Tintaldra, Walwa
    and the Granya Gap?

  20. Yep I want to get there. I'd more likely head west, and down through the
Olympic Way if I was trying to avoid the Hume. Us inland types are like
    that.
