I've just been reading an article on future plans to make the entire UK road system toll based, by use of satelite (and presumably GPS). http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/3317197.stm ....and it got me thinking, maybe for now it's a pipedream but it's just the kind of thing I can see getting in through the back door one day. I know of at least a couple of insurers who are now running "pay as you drive" pilot schemes, again GPS based, so the technology is already there, and by all accounts isn't hugely expensive. If this one day gets pushed through .gov I think we'll see the two systems merge into one, and it'll probably happen within 10 years.. Who'd like to place odds on it all being linked to some kind of speed monitoring system as well?
