    Short Track Results:

JR Schnabel wins his fifth consecutive race (TT and short track) at
the Illinois State Fairgrounds Rodeo Arena. He has that place dialed in
for sure. There were a few red flags during this race

    Finishing order:
    1. JR Schnabel (Yam); 2. Joe Kopp (KTM); 3. Bryan Smith (Hon); 4. Chris
Carr (Hon); 5. Rob Pearson (Yam); 6. Johnny Murphree (Hon); 7. Henry
Wiles (Hon); 8. Kenny Coolbeth (KTM); 9. Jethro Halbert (Hon); 10. Shaun
Russell (Hon); 11. Tim Eades (Rot); 12. Willie McCoy (KTM); 13. Bryan
Bigelow (ATK); 14. Josh Toungett (Hon); 15. Ion Stear (Yam); 16. Kevin
    Varnes (Suz)

    Springfield Mile Results:

Chris Carr wins again and clinches his 7th championship. I believe
this was his 71st national victory. Coolbeth did what he needed to do
and led the first 1/4 of the race pulling away. Sadly his race, and
championship hopes died around lap 9, when his bike failed him. All in
all, typical Springfield 5 rider lead group last lap draft for the win
by inches. Doesn't get much better than this!

BTW: Varnes had a good day on the Suzuki. They have now figured out how
to "twingle" their engines to be able to run with the Harleys. Also
Scott Stump had a better day on the Aprilia than the finishing position
would have you believe. Still no Triumph in the main yet.

    Finishing order:

    1. Chris Carr (H-D); 2. Shaun Russell (H-D); 3. Rich King (H-D); 4. Joe
    Kopp (H-D); 5. Willie McCoy (H-D); 6. Jay Springsteen (H-D); 7. Kevin
    Varnes (Suz); 8. Johnny Murphree (H-D); 9. Raun Wood (H-D); 10. Bryan
    Bigelow (H-D); 11. Steve Beattie (H-D); 12. Tim Eades (H-D); 13. Bryan
    Smith (H-D); 14. Jared Mees (H-D); 15. Jess Roeder (H-D); 16. Kenny
Coolbeth (H-D); 17. Terry Poovey (H-D); 18. Scott Stump (Apr)

On to Du Quoin, IL for the season final round.
This is a great track that will offer some great racing. If you get a
chance, go check it out on 10/1/2005 you won't be sorry.

I'm not sure if that is two or three short tracks for Schnabel, but he
has won the last five races at the rodeo arena if you count TT and short
track. Quite an impressive run he has going there.
Here is a pic of the start of the main from the AMA site.
