  1. Some bastard's painted your number plate. Can't leave anything lying
    around these days.

  4. Had some newish-looking Toyota go past me as I walked to work this
afternoon (didn't think to look at the Registration Mark). Very low-slung
with a huge stainless exhaust system (~4" diameter) visible below the rear
bumper. And recessed strakes along the sides with side vents midway.
....and a very definite sound of escaping compressed air each time he
changed up a gear (he wasn't pressing on at all).

Hmm, nothing like it at toyota.co.uk. <rummages> No, nothing like
    a late-model MR2.

    Ah, 2nd gen EGI.

Weellll, that one is currently on its hols with Beav, waiting to be
returned to its former glory. It's one of the very few surviving
UK-spec Turbo II convertibles that are in good nick:

    http://www.bsdninjas.co.uk/car/rx-7-1.jpg

This one's as original as they get, although I did score a set of
proper Old School Watanabe RS-8 wheels for it. But it's more of a
classic rather than an everyday car. Still goes quite well though.

The one I was driving yesterday (yes, I've got two of the blighters) is
    this one:

    http://www.bsdninjas.co.uk/car/fd-4.jpg

And as mentioned, that's not *quite* as standard as it looks, even
though it's quite mild by club standards.

EGIs aren't that fast, especially because they're relatively heavy. The
Turbo II is a slightly different kettle of fish, though.

None of these have stump-pulling torque low down. The joie de vivre
with these cars is at the other end of the rev range.
I take it you haven't driven an Elford turbo then?

Completely missed us. There was some thunder this afternoon, but the
front seemed to be moving obliquely across from the North and passed
us by a few miles. Went for a nice ride-out in a pleasantly cool 23C.

Heh. Presumably with either an aftermarket turbo kit or a SuperChav
    blow-off valve simulator.

    Very nice.

    Very nice again!

I don't have many pix of mine (pre digital camera) but while I was
looking I found this crappy 35mm slide scan of half my 'fleet' at the
time. (Not the shit next door, mind and note the Merc' - yes, I did
*invent* the Chelsea Tractor, but that's another story!)

I also found this (snapped while heading for the Dartford crossing one
time) and thought it might raise a smile:

The fucking traffic was weaving all over the place trying to get a good
look and there was a general air of *great mirth* about!! (Never caught
up with the driver to see how he was taking it!!)

I came upon 40 of them on Sunday all riding in close formation
completely blocking the road with a 40-50mph convoy. I had to chop them
up into sausage slices with some rather severe overtaking, forcing into
the line a couple of times.

    I was not on a motorbike ;o)

The guy at the rear had a yellow bib on "something or other Chapter"
and "Road Captain". It makes me seethe!!

I think motorcyclists are the new speed nazis. Lots of them on the M62
yesterday in the inside lane with trucks and vans pulling out to
    overtake them.

I clocked over 160mph, we must have balance in the universe.
I also clipped a ton in a 30 for the first time in a while but in my
defence m'lud I did have a plane to catch.

    Hog says...
I've encountered the Northampton HOG chapter on a ride-out. Their
spacing was impeccable, nicely staggered with loads of room between them
and the bike in front which left loads of room for other bikes to
overtake in, and they nodded and smiled as I did so. Shite bikes mind,
and the whole "President" and Road Captain" thing is a bit sad imo, but
    I couldn't fault their riding.

Totally unlike the Gold Wing mob I came across one day, who made it very
clear they didn't want anyone overtaking or filtering into their mile
long phalanx of bikes. **** 'em, I did anyway cos the cunts were
    tootling along a 60 road at 45.

banged the rocks together and they said :
Amazing that cars are more stable on their roof than on their wheels.

Drive it on wheels, get out of line a bit, flips.

Drive it on roof, it wobbles back and forth a bit, side to side a bit,
    no drama.
