Yes but you are a faster rider than me - and possibly have more NSL roads
    (or something).

Come on, how can you say I'm a faster rider? You have one of the
sharpest handling and quickest 600s on the market. I was riding a 23
year old shite old 250 single with 182,000 miles under its wheels. It's
held together with cable ties and spit, the footrest hanger swivels
round because the frame is rusted through and there is no suspension
damping worth speaking of. You should be able to kick my sorry arse and
not even get out of 2nd gear.

It's recently been retired from being commuted on A roads and
unclassified roads between here and the Cambs borders. Approx 50 miles a
day for the 9 months prior to me getting this job. Approx half of this
journey was on one of the bumpiest sections of road I've ever ridden
down. I used the ZZR for about 2 weeks and stopped when I realised it
was getting so badly out of shape that I wasn't in control any more. I
was convinced I was going to launch it through a hedge any day soon. I
only took the Thunderace there a few times.

I will end up going on one of these trips.

There's no point, IMO, saying now: "Oh yeah, great. I want to go",
because I don't think I will. I'd rather just email TOG and tell him my
    money's in the post.

I've averaged 80 on a solo ride from the Ardeche to Paris, and the same
from there to Calais, but that's going some on maily R.N. roads.
Be tough to average 80 with a group of people though.

Hmmm, an average of 120mph. Easy if its a motorway all the way.

And the cops don't spot you. :)

Groups? You've never been on a togtour, have you?

We hit the french shore and he's off on his way.. It's a case of
    everyone fend for yourself!

Sean calculated that we were averaging 45 going down to Frankfurt.

That's good going. Most of it on straight main roads?

Ish. I don't think it included fuel stops, 2 hour lunches in MacDo, that
sort of thing. We left Calais around 9AM and got to Frankfurt at something
like 11PM. About 450 miles, 14 hours, roughly 32mph overall.

When I came up for the Pixiefest, I did 140 miles in 3:30 door-to-door,
including all stops, which gives 40mph average. But then I ride like a
    twat.

Absolutely. We were able to use Full Power practically everywhere.

You need a SOGolf Tdi. You could average 95mph in that.

I've been in a SOGolf not so long ago. Terrifyingly fast.

The newer 130bhp TDi is a bloody fast car. Unfortunately mine is the
65bhp SDi that tops out at 115mph on the clock.

The one I was in had dodgy wheel-bearings and was driven by a madwoman.

From the North, try the crossing from Hull to Zeebrugge, motorway all the
way down to Nancy and Saint Dié. Boring, I know, but you seem to want to get
it over and done with quickly...
