That's an insane amount of power to have at the rear wheel. By usable,
you mean it has mid range grunt too? 35k for an engine though? It must
have some gold plated taps fitted... heh

Blimey. So you know your big end from your small end, but CBA?
I knew that they aim for this to happen in formula 1 racing, but being
formula 1, they just seem to blow up anyway, at any time. :)
That's just nuts.. Pistons and rings seem to be service items on 2 strokes.

    Cheers - I'd appreciate it.

Tell him I've been talking to Island Motorcycles about a ride on their
ex-Maria Costello CBR600. Also tell him that I got a replica in the
newcomers last year, knocked on the door of 106, and would be looking
to do 110 on a good bike.

    Thanks

Thanks. Now I've got that bloody awful Steeleye Span song, Gaudete
going round my head. Must whistle some Zep to drive it out!

Only if you crash at Governors Bridge.
    Otherwise it's 37.75 miles. :)

37.73. You'd think a local would know that, wouldn't you?

Knock off .02 miles, unless they've lengthened the course.

The exact mileage would depend on what lines you take, surely. There's
got to be at least a hundred metres saved over a whole lap by cutting
    corners in a racer stylee.

Funny, that's the same figure that was quoted when I first went over in
1985. Despite the actual differences in cornering styles I cannot see
the actual true distance having altered.

Perhaps we need a number of volunteers to go around the course taking
variations on lines, just to be sure like. So that we can say 'the
course is between 37.7 miles to 37.8 miles long, depending on your own
    riding lines'.

Officially, no. And as you have to set yourself up about 3 corners
beforehand then I think they take that into account.

What about the official records for lap times and lap speeds?
Put them into your favourite mathematical formula and the distance
will pop out of the other end.
