Until you have ridden a factory prepped racebike, you dont have a CLUE
    about them.

The Kawasaki that I tested today makes my GSXR feel like a rather shoddily
    put together 400.

**** me its fast, corners, holds a line, etc etc etc <insert usual
    stereotypical statment here>.

Having to rebuild the thing every 2000 miles must be a downer though!

    Roll on Easter...!

Its in a somewhat higher state of tune than a road bike. By a lot. By that,
I mean a LOT. And its 2000 "race" miles. So its thrashing its arse off all
    the time.

Revvy little fucker, and lifts the front in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and waggles the
bars through the rest of the 'box. This might be more to do with my ham
    fisted gearchanges however.

Ahh, that is a point. Not much use having a race bike and being kind to it.
It must be great, having a go on a well sorted race bike. The best
handling bike I've ridden so far, is my FZR. :/

Riding a bike that handles is addictive though, and I can't afford that.

    Hi Champ,

I have had a great Sunday, and the sun was shining.

Funny thing was, I had the same conversation with Keith this afternoon, he
called me a Jammy **** as well.

I used to work with a guy called Ronnie Russell, going back a few years and
we have kept in touch. I did a bit of work for his and Desy Collins's
computers, and I have also helped out with the engine managment work on the
big TT bike (not the actual programing, but getting the data on and off and
pushing it to a datalogger). He knew that I have been mucking around up
Jurby for a bit and asked if I would like a go. Simple as that. The bikes
not being used until the Manx, so I get to keep it "ticking over". Usual
rules, bend it, you mend it and so forth.

The Manx. Dont know. Want me to have an ask for you?

No, it's definitely a 600, but all Gixer 6s are shoddily put together
and they just feel slow anyway.

This is true. How many running hours is 2000 miles at race speeds anyway?

Can't be arsed to work it out, but Donington lap record is around 96mph....
When I was at Stockport College of Technology doing Bike Mechanics C&G (Yes,
really!) we were always reminded that the ideal race engine will blow up as
the vehicle crosses the finish line and neither before nor after, as only
then do you know that it was tuned to the right level for the race
    length....

My bloody NS won't last that much longer between rings and maybe pistons as
    a road bike...:)

    Pssst, wanna buy a CBR600RR3 mister ?

    Pre-depreciated by one careful owner.

Proof of it's superb handling is the fact that I'm still alive after 2
    years of riding it.

I assume you mean TT here, not Manx?

Nope. Des is not putting any entries in this year. It costs to much, as it
    basically fuckes the bikes up.
I will be seeing him midweek. Ill page you if he is interested.

It is good yes, and long may it continue. I was very lucky however, there is
now way I could afford to run one, let alone buy one.

The ZX10R that they run cost 35,000 quid for the engine alone, but for that
you do get (a usable) 190BHP@TRW. And that requires rebuilding even more
    often.

<nibble> 15 000 miles, 2.5 years, all year round use - nothing fell off,
nothing corroded[1], nothing needed replacing. No stickers came off, no
engine problems - not a thing.

Thus far, I haven't been witness to the this "crappy" build quality that
gets mentioned here. Maybe the DL will the changing point (as it's got a
less plastic to keep the crap off).

[1] the hooter stopped working, but that's not entirely surprising - and yes
that was due to a rusty/corroded contact, but that was it - the contact - 5
    minute fix.

OK, now I'm confused - I asked if the bike was being used for the
Manx, and you said you didn't know and you'd ask. And then, in your
next breath, you said "the bike's not being used until the Manx",
which sort of implies that someone *will* be riding it...
