Splendid!

  1. The yoof of today are clearly cut from the same cloth we were.

A small and excessively noisy moped has just (11:23pm) charged past my
house at a heady 31.564 MPH. With no headlight.

By gawd, that brings back the memories.

  3. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Lozzo
Entirely possible. He was headed in the opposite direction. :^)

When I was 17 (1977) I was regularly chased by local Plod back to the
hotel I worked and lived in, in Farnborough. I usually beat them home
on my CJ250T, but on one occasion as I was making a dash for it at
night, with no working headlight, I realised that I wasn't going to
make it back before being caught, so I tried to lose them round the
back streets of North Camp. I eventually rode into a car park,
turning my remaining lights off and slipped between two parked cars.
The sound of my breathing/heartbeat was deafening as I hid between the
cars whilst they looked for me in their white Granada. Luckily, they
drove round the car park a few times and went off so I lived to fight
    another day :)

With a CJ250T you're lucky you made it to the carpark.

    sacked"
"Dead easy. We save money by putting 2:1 exhaust on them, paint them all
solid yellow and there you go, a new model"
"Aaah. Same old shit, more profit. Create new market for all of those cams
made of cheese too.Keep jobs for our boys. **** _you_ round-eye"

Have you sorted that charging thing yet? I was out all weekend and now
have some tentative plans to be on a certain island whilst a well known
racing event is taking place in a week or so.

Time's been short because I had to prep a 2006 R6 for Danny to race
next weekend and for a trackday we did today.

I'll email my plans and see what we can arrange.

That's rubbish. If he had a proper moped[1] he'd have done at least
    38.387mph.

I appreciate that they were regarded as shit, but I loved my red one
(which went back for a recall after they decided they should fit
centre stands after all). I completely neglected it, yet still did
over 35k miles in a couple of years. I didn't do any servicing as
such, so it hardly ever got oil changes and I couldn't afford things
like chains/sprockets. It never once let me down, and I did some
reasonably long trips on it (for UK values of long). I do remember
stuff like indicator stems rotting etc.

I had a G5 as a first 'big' bike after passing my test. I did ~28k on it in
<18months. I also had to replace a set of cylinders/pistons and two
heads/cams in that time too which is a pretty poor show when Honda made at
the same time, cracking little (indestructible) bikes like the CD175/CB200
    etc..
Shit oil and lack of regular oil changes killed mine.

  11. Sounds like my first bike - a pre-disastered (by 3 older brothers)
Honda C70. More holes than exhaust and a charging circuit that couldn't
cope with engine and headlights at the same time..
