    Found that out.

Most helpful if you could. Some form of fade proofing would also be a
    plan.

Nip down the nearest industrial suppliers and feast your cold fingers on
the delights of heaters for the working man.

They'll have space heaters, for sure, but they're a bit pricey. An
older, but very effective heater is the propane-powered gas element
(it's about a foot square, sits on a stand and connected to a propane
bottle). You get a fair bit of radiant heat from it and it works best if
the garage isn't full of draughty holes.

oh yes. The gas option is good for me. "Super Ser" contained units used
to be all the rage in Ireland; I've never seen on on "the mainland",
    though.

Ah, if you mean the actual cabinet type SuperSer - there's plenty to be
found in the local rags/ loot / etc and dirt cheap. They make good
    garage-sized workshop heaters.

They workshop type I'm thinking of is an encased standalone element,
connected to a remote propane bottle. You'd be likely to find one at a
bootsale during the summer for peanuts and snag it for winter use.

that's the ones - I just like the way you can wheel the whole thing
around without having to lug propane canisters and connecting up hoses
    etc.
trouble is, I need to do the work on the bike sooner rather than later.

Yes it does. I gave some thought to your suggestion "to scan the
existing face" but as the existing face is faded white it wouldn't be a
lot of point. That and TBH my photoshop skills are not up to much.

If Champ has the original image it would go some way to solve the
    immediate problem.

I'm looking for a genuine replacement or something of that ilk.

    A smallish propane powered forced air style (35k - 40k BTU/hr) is
perfect for making a single garage toasty, my 40k BTU/hr propane heats
a 24x26 foot double garage well enough if it's not extremely cold (lower
than -25C). The radiant ones work OK if you're staying put in one place,
but if you're moving around or want to heat a space rather than a person,
the forced air version is the only way to go.

Well, *I* paid something on the order of $85 USD (45 GBP) including tax,
for my 40k BTU/hr forced air propane heater, same as this one, but under
    an auto parts store brand:

    http://shop.store.yahoo.com/air-n-water/dae55prgashe.html

Whereas it appears you would pay approximately double that for Machine
    Mart's 35k BTU/hr unit. Of course you'll also need a 20lb propane bottle
if you haven't already got one on your patio BBQ cooker.

I have a 600w tube heater linked to a timeclock.

Takes the nip out of the air, and keeps the bikes snug.

You wouldn't usually frequent such establishments, but Poundstretcher
have some pretty decent halogen electric heaters in at the moment.

Been thinking of getting one for our garage, at £15 it's gotta be worth
    a try.
