"More than half of British drivers break speed limits every day..."

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4241215.stm

If "more than half" of the British electorate vote on something the
government sits up and takes notice - or doesn't get re-elected.

    Aren't we voting [1] with our acceletors/throttles?

p.s. I realise, of course, that "more than half of British drivers" != "more
than half of the British electorate", but YKWIM.

Since speed kills, surely within a few years "more than half"
of British drivers will be dead so giving the NHS, housing &
public transport some well earned breathing space. Not to
mention the asylum seekers. This is just a part of Charles
    Clarke's immigration report.

No. I realise you're not being particularly serious here, but most
people want to be able to speed themselves, but don't want everybody
    else to do so.

I'm in favour of myself, Champ and Bear being allowed to speed.

Ace would be allowed to speed when he was in this country and Colin Irvine
would be allowed to speed providing he did it all of the time, rather than
sitting at the limit for 30 minutes while you're following him and then
suddenly getting bored and winding it on with no warning what-so-ever.

The rest of you, quite frankly, I wouldn't trust above walking pace.

    AndrewR says...
I put to the floor the the inverse should be applied. People like me,
Ginge, Wizard, Oldbloke and so on should be allowed, nay forced to speed
everywhere at all times, while the likes of Champ, Bonwick and Daz should
be restricted to 25CC or 20MPH whichever is the greater, thus allowing us
all to finish a BOTAFOT at about the same time.

the 'fact' that 1 in 3 road fatalities is as a direct result of
    speeding.

Yeah - it's *relative* speed that counts.

The current laws enable us to pass oncoming vehicles at a relative speed of
    120mph.

But if I overtake a vehicle at 10mph over the absolute speed limit of
    60mph - I'm a criminal.

  18. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember "Doesnotcompute"
Of course he's not. The real figure is one in one. Every fatality in the
world, ever, is/was caused by speeding motorists.

When Hitler invaded Poland, you don't think they stuck to the speed
limits, or that Napolean bloke, pretty fair turn of speed I can tell
you, as he buggered off sharpish.

As for that Boadicea; she carve up traffic dreadful and drink and drive.

    You all die safely now.
