Just seen on the news, that speed cameras and gonna breed faster than
    rabbits over here.

Typical flash settings are 96kph for a 90kph zone and 138kph for a
    130kph zone. :-/

I'm a tad pissed off, but tbh, it was a long time coming.

    http://news.tf1.fr/news/france/0,,1423984,00.html for the news
article. Yes, it's in French, in case someone wishes to point it out
and surprisingly enough, the following url is a guvermint site which
has a url to all the radars in France.

2 new cameras on the A24 in Sussex (Dial Post and Ashurst) lasted less than
a week before being torched. They still had their polythene covers on so
    hadn't even been used !!!!

The sad bit is that of all the cameras I've come across, (at least the Dial
Post one), they really are in a *bad* accident black spot. I've lived in
the area all my life and lost count of the number of crashes that have
    happened at that particular junction.

Welllll, in all seriousness, they have posted up the URL of the
locations, so mebbe they're looking at safety first, dosh second.

I was thinking about our petit grenouille today, as it 'appens.

Now I've no opinion one way, or t'other, about his R1, and whether it
    exists or not.

What I do find unusual is that since it's been in his sig., I don't
recal a *single* "I went out on my bike today" post from him. We've
had posts on just about every other subject "sous le soleil", but
nothing concerning his antics aboard the elusive velocipede.

    Curious, innit?

  12. I mentioned this in my rant at him. He doesn't *own* a motorcycle.
    Well, no, not really.

  13. Indeed. There were a couple of "on the road" posts about Twingos
and scooter bois, but, iirc, never pre-faced with "when I was on
    my R1 today I saw"...

    that he could [1]

Saw the cameras a few days ago, thay were OK. Must go and have a
    look... snigger.
Hey, I'm just down the road from ya in Ferring. Agree about the black
spot, but it's the road design allowing roads to join onto fast dual
carriageways *and cross them* thats the problem. They should have put
in sliproads like Ashington, but tried to be cheapskates. Now there's
a blackspot or two and who knows how many injured.

I had a panic moment a year or so ago, before the 60 limit was in
place. Travelling south approaching the P. Green junction and a
foriegn artic pulled across both lanes in order to turn right. I had
no choice other than to go right around his front and into the other
carriageway!!! Still alive, just, but scary. I don't think he even
    noticed me...

I'm sure Tone has signed us up to a reciprocal "grass up the foreigner"
directive, although gravity does seem to overcome the velcro on your number
    plate quite easily.

I'm all for more cameras. But only under private initiative schemes, i.e.
you pay for a camera, the government rents it back from you, you stick it in
a nice, profitable spot and get to collect all the money.
