Speeding basics

OK. Got my 1st 'real' bike last week - a speed triple.

Its a lot easier to speed on it than my old 125 and wanted to find out
about speed cameras as 6 points means a retake.

Do all cameras flash when they get you, even in broad daylight?
Sometimes when I get home I fret about the speed I was doing, even
though I am generally a very careful driver. Was I doing 35 or 30
today on that road, or was it even, god forbid, 40? How long does it
actually take to get the letter?

Is it worth stressing myself out about getting caught? Obviously if I
ever find myself over the limit, then it is never on purpose. A retake
of my DAS would probably make me seriously upset, so I try and be mega
careful. It aint the fine that bugs me, its the thought of having to
do a bloody retest and go through all that stress again.

BTW I have a clean licence.

I know you are gonna say 'if you dont want to get points on your
licence then dont speed' but every one of us must have looked at the
speedo in a 30 and seen slightly more than that.

To take away the worry a few friends of mine have small plates. I know
you can be fined for this, but can you get any dreaded points on your
    licence?

Thanks for your help. And yes, I have only been driving for 6 months
so sorry if any of these questions seem a little straightforward for
    some of you.

    No.
Gatsos will flash in daylight but other types don't have a visible flash and
mobile speed traps don't have anything other than a man with a laser gun and
    a notepad.
    Theoretically 2 weeks max.

See these two statements really don't actually go together too well.

Enjoy your license while you still have it, enjoy to the max. At least
you will have happy memories when it is gone.

Leave at least a little of the post to which you are attempting to

    1/10, must try to improve.

30 - not that I can recall (at least not unexpected [1])

    Everywhere else- of course :)

[1] before anyone on that trip to snetterton mentions any failure to observe
    just about any limit.

    REALLY? That's strange.
Do 20 in 30's (think of the children) and 39 in 40's and you should be
fine, look out on urban M'ways (50's) and the like.
Yes, if you stress about it you should be more aware of plod, because if
you get caught at silly speeds (easy on a triple) you'll get done.
Obviously, no-one ever breaks the speed limit intentionally.
That's nice. You've had a triple for how long?
All the small plate will do is attract the police and cost money. Try
working on making your plate shrink quickly in relation to the person
    behind you.

    Bollocks.

Bang on 30 all the way, if the stupid little bastards step out in front
they deserve all they get. There's too many of them around anyway.

Yes, but you might not notice - especially in daylight.
After three or four weeks you're probably safe, but there's no guarantee.

Only very, very rarely. And *never* as much as 40. Not by accident,
    anyway.

Don't speed round town: it's not worth it. Learn when and where you can
get away with it and be a good boy elsewhere.
Any plate which is so small (or otherwise obscured) that it doesn't show
up on a speed camera is going to get you pulled all the time and cause you
a lot more trouble in the long-run than simply moderating your speed where
    you're likely to get spotted.

The most important thing, though, is that if your observational skills are
so poor that you regularly go through Gatsos too fast then *that's* what
    you should be concerned about.
