Just got back from an hours practice. One less gear change makes life much
    easier. <BG>

Means you are riding better as well. Proper gear for the conditions and
all that shite. Well done, your riding has just improved. You might
find your mpg has as well, strangely.

I was told that any endorsable offence (exceeding the speed limit) was a
    serious fault/fail (a fail)

Y'know, just as I hit send I thought - some sad fucker is bound to
pick up on the mis-spelling of licence. But, Ogden, I never imagined
it would be you. To see you reduced to spelling flames. I weep.

I'm bored. I've got two near-identical boxes, both running as chroot
jailed SFTP servers. One works, the other doesn't. I've been staring
at the bastards for about 4 hours now trying to work out what's wrong,
    and flames are a diversion.

And it wasn't a misspelling, you used the wrong word ;)

Watch the rev counter, not the speedo. For some reason I find it easier
to stick to 3500rpm than to 30mph, or 4000, depending on the gear. Of
corse, this relies on you having an idea what revs match what speed.

I'm not sure why this is true, it just is. I think it's because my
brain recognises a direct link between throttle action and revs, but not
    to speed.

    Anyway, works for me.
