What he's saying is that *he* can't move into lane 2, cos it's full of
people hogging it. This in turn presents a problem to those trying to join.

Though TBH the only time I;ve had issues joining a motorway (other than
jams) is when the twat in front thinks that 50mph will do just nicely.

  2. All commendable attachment to obeying the law by those who indignantly
assert their right to break it when it comes to the speed they want to drive
    at.

To be fair they are only banning devices which tell you if its
active, my GPS tells me there is a camera site, so I never pass a
camera site over the limit but I slow for the empty boxes too, if
everybody was equipped as I am, they could make do with half a
    dozen live cameras.
IF they were honestly placed where speed was a real issue this
would be a good policy (schools, blackspots, shopping centres
roadworks etc). In my area there are none by schools, they are
all on pedestrian free low limit (30-40-50) dual carriageway. BTW
Road Angel flashes before blackspots, which I thought was a
gimmick but in practice I find it interesting to see where
accidents have been frequent, of course many are random bits of
high traffic volume motorway but others you can see where the
    problem is.

Actually ITFY they offered full market rate for a lot of items. My brother
was fucking *minted*[1] by the end of that compensation fiasco.

[1] They offered compensation for all your live ammunition. My brother had a
bullet press and made his own.The moment the idea of a ban was mentioned,
the price of black powder, cartridge cases, primers and bullet heads crashed
through the floor. Bro' buys several hundred quids worth, and after a couple
of nights assembly, hands the lots in for thousands. Sorted.

It will never fucking work. Goverments are incapable of building IT
    projects of that scale.

They want to ban the detectors that inform a motorist if the camera is on.
If it isn't , that driver can continue faster than the limit.

They do not want to ban the GPS units that merely point out where the
cameras are. In this case the driver will slow down at all of them.

    >What's up, don't you like having to
    obey the law?

I'm assuming this particular fuckwit is a lawyer caught in the crosspost.

He should stick to pushing his pen and leave the driving to the experts.

In my BMW I can moderate my speed for joining traffic very
easily, (anti speed people seem to think it takes forever to slow
from 90 to 60 and cars doing 90 are out of control).
In my little Amica which only does about 60 I can join motorways
    without trouble.
    So what's the problem?

  12. That so few speeding motorists choose drive courteously.

They are, however, more than capable of wasting squillions of taxpayers
money in the process of trying.

[Actually, speed governor trials have taken place in Sweden.]

  14. I never advocated breaking them. Giving slowing moving traffic (i.e. going
at 70mph) an opportunity to move out of the way to allow slip road traffic
to move onto the dual carriageway is a courtesy which may be appropriate or
not appropriate depending on the circumstances. I never advocated as Firth
alleged that slip road traffic should simply bulldoze their way onto the
    road.

True, the civil service can never specifiy a system and stick to
it. We have at least 20 years leeway :)

  16. They'll ban them without compensation. As they did with Brocock air
pistols. The compensation to pistol owners ran to over 100 million. The
    government won't pay out again.

That's just your subjective view. The middle lane hogs doing 60
don't drive courteously and there are more of them than fast
drivers. Some fast drivers drive courtesly, others don't. Same
goes for slow drivers. People who park in hazardous places may be
slow or fast. Drivers not paying attention (more likely slow) /on
the phone may be slow or fast.
The problem isn't speed, its bad driving.

No, not so far anyway. Just something like an obscured junction,
a brow in the road. Never seen a camera at one either.
(don't know where they got them from BTW).
