Special Offers at Donnington Park?

  1. Just wondering...

I binned my bike in the wet at the weekend (amazing how they slide,
isn't it?), and am now faced with the various logistics: fairing,
exhaust can, indicator, axle nut, brake lever (should buy those things
in bulk), etc. etc. The hardest part will be the helmet: I had a size
62 black Shoei, and can ill afford a replacement at the moment.

As it happens, I'm going to Donnington Park for the MotoGP next
weekend. I was wondering; do they usually have retail stands there,
and am I likely to find a big Shoei at a bargain? Or should I just go
down to Metropolis tomorrow and hand over my credit card?

No you're not. You are going to Donington Park. Donnington is *miles* away
and the MotoGP is definitely at Donington....
Yes they have loads of stands.

You *may* get a bargain, but it'll probably be last year's design.... I
picked up a Suomy Bostrom Laguna[0] with clear and iridium visors for under
£200 last year so a saving of around £100-odd is possible if you can live
    with something out of date...[1]

[0] and a duHamel Shoei XR-something for about the same for a mate
[1] Of course as it was out of date I could've found it cheap in a shop,
too, but it came with the two visors so I took the gamble that I wouldn't
get a helment knocked down from £279 and an iridium visor (£55) for two
hundred notes in a shop.... But I could be wrong

  3. Yep, I checked Autoroute for the distance, and realised when it
    suggested Reading City Centre.
Nope, sounds exactly what I'm looking for. My current Shoei XR800 was
something like half-price from BMF 2002/3?, when the XR900 was out.
Ever since that saving, I've developed an aversion to anything like
full price for basic kit (and ISTR even Shoei found it difficult
trying to explain what a huge improvement the '900's air vent in the
back was, and how it was well worth the money... :-D )
