'Tis now a fait accompli. The B12 currently sports a pair of shiny[1]
    new Avons.

[1] Not had opportunity to start scrubbing them in yet.

Ah, now you see, Bonners has already proven that they're completely
    unsuited to a B12.

So, if they work on yours, we can only conclude that you ride like a
    poof.

    Do report back, won't you?

I only proved that they were crap on a Bandit ridden in the way it
should be when two up on a fast, well surfaced road. Any other kind of
riding and I'm sure they're perfectly adequate.
    That sounds fair.
I don't think Darren gives a **** how anyone else thinks he rides his
    bike.

It's a waste of time because the capability of said tyres has already
been discussed on here. Lots of people think they're fine for the
price you pay for them. Lots of people still think re moulds are ok as
    well.

I thought that was the consensus here anyway? I've certainly never
claimed otherwise. Certainly for the next few months, what little
riding I'm able to do will be done extremely tentatively.

No chance you can get to the Gabba before midnight, I suppose?

No need, it's gonna piss it down at lunch, and Mr Ponting's going to
    look like a right knob-end.

    Oh, and it's 'Gabba, btw.

  10. Cricket. It's all gone horribly wrong and a straight bat is

I found the Avons to be generally good and was happy with them in the
wet. TBF the rear has had some abuse, lots of clutching up at 70per etc.
I was over in Glasgow recently, the ride up from Stranraer was late on
and in torrential rain (1). By Ayr I was aware of the rear skipping out
on roundabouts, stopped for fuel and the pressure/tread was ok.
Next morning heading up the M8 I wound it on hard at 90per in 4th. This
engine puts out a huge amount of torque and it comes in hard at that
point. I shat when the rear spun up big time, somewhat sideways, never
suffered that before. Had the same again a couple of times deliberately.
Rode over to MCS in Renfrew and had a chat, best they could suggest was
heat cycling and the compound had gone off in some way, it still looked
    ok.
I made a judgement call and had them change it for a BT014, knowing that
to be a faultless tyre which has coped well with Gixxer Thou power. The
front is a new Azaro which continues to perform well -
    cornering/wet/stoppies.
I suppose after this experience and with Andy's problem on Adie's bike
there has to be a question mark over the Azaro rear in certain
conditions, I see they have been superseded though.

    (1) possibly the wettest yet, so much deep standing water it went up
between my overtrousers and boots and reached my socks

I have done a trackday on the Azaros that are still on my Bindit, at the
time they were barely 1500 miles old and since then I've done about 2K
miles[1]. Mallory really tore them up and got them very hot indeed, but
they continue to work well and even mildly cranked over today they were
grippy enough not cause any twitching of the ringpiece as they went
through wet patches on some back road bends. The only time I had it spin
up was on our way to Tori's after Mallory, fully loaded with camping kit
and riding through 4 inches of water. I opened the throttle and got a
controllable spin that I eased off for and regained grip. Nothing major,
nothing scary, just a gentle spin up. I reckon any tyre would have done
the same in those circumstances, a BT020 certainly would.

I love the amount of wet or dry grip they give for the amount of miles
you can do on a set, and they're cheaper than BT020s which don't last as
long or grip as well. I'll admit they probably aren't suited to being
pushed hard on the road with lots of weight onboard or if you've masses
of power to play with, but for my sluggardly Bindit they are perfect.

I had Azaros on the bike before and tbh I didn't notice much difference
in the way they felt when I fitted the new ones. This can only say that
the feel and grip of the tyre doesn't deteriorate with wear.

[1] I have just lost the 1mm wear mark[2], I have another 7mm to go.
[2] Most of this rubber is melted onto the inner mudguard after my
crash. Apparently they smoke well too.

All this proves is that a 600 Bandit puts out a decidedly weedy amount
of power and you rode like a girl on that trackday.

Huh? I accept that I wasn't present on the day but I know with 100%
certainty that a B6 is gutless and Loz was bumped down a group for
    reasons unknown.
