I don't think Des is /anything/ like Dan, to be honest.

Never stopped you, when slagging off the English, has it?

Or is it OK to generalise when there's only 55 million (or whatever)
    of them?

Hog was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
    True, true.
That's news to me - I don't think it's illegal to do so unless you get
into denial territory again. Actually there's been a lot of research
in this area in the last few years due to the availability of those
documents that were squirreled away in the Stasi archives - well, the
ones that the 'mericans didn't lug off to Langley before we could
shout "stop" - and the Russian archives.

It's ok to generalise when they're all waving white flags and stuffing
    their faces full of brie.

  6. Boy, is it different. Still - I enjoyed my visits there even if I was
    mostly techying..
I have never seen so many Italian pavement cafes as
in Salzburg. But given that they don't serve roadkill coated in
    breadcrumbs I can understand why..

  8. What? Des being racist? Well I never..
Yes. Especially when they are not French.

  9. The "unable to let an argument go" was the main comparison
    for me.

Maybe time has dulled my memory.

OK, I'll give you that one.
Dan was undoubtably mad as a fucking box of frogs, but he was
    occasionally very funny.

    Sorry, wrong room.

    </306b>

Are you saying you are not arguing?
probably because most don't care if it's legal (because they
don't know and use a "inbuilt" "sense" of "right" and "wrong")
it was in France, and so not an issue, as they don't live there...
    See above.

  12. In the same way as me saying 'you can't be French cos you were not
    born there' is 'racist'.
No. Because you are not necessarily. But when you start posting
self-congratulatory rants about how you managed to get a
security guard into trouble due to your extensive knowledge of French
Law all it does is make you look like an attention-seeking approval
addict presenting his latest attempt at proving how wonderful he is
in the hope that someone on UKRM will look up to you and worship you.
    It strikes me as:

    Childish
    Untrue
    Attention seeking
    Self-loathing
    and just plain stupid.
Rubbish. When you post stupidly people will point it out.
If you can't handle that then I suggest Usenet is not for you.

Post like a mature adult and people won't be so inclined to laugh
at you. Carry in posting like an immature 16-year old and people will
    laugh at you.

    Heh, yes.
Point is, they're not Italian. The Austro-Hungarian empire had
developed it's own "Coffee-House culture", which is somewhat different
from the Italian one. Mind ewe, they probably do serve mostly
Espresso these days because most tourists (and that includes me) get
lost between their tens of different styles of coffee.

I quite liked Dan. Miss him really, even though he did love himself a
    little bit too obviously.
