Sorry more specifically, can a Canadian (US license) register a bike in the UK ?

Thank you for all your answers.

Sorry I should've been more specific as to my situation & intents as
many of the answers about non-UK people registering bikes in the UK
were about EU/EEC nationals & I'm wondering if they have extra UK
    rights that I don't.

If it matters I am a Canadian citizen residing in the U.S. and
therefore have a U.S. (California) motorcycle license.

Could I purchase, register, insure & ride a bike in the UK without
being a resident & then on my way home sell the bike & get all that
paperwork done within a few days ?

    - Sam.

  2. As far as buying, registering, yes; nobody cares who buys or registers a
vehicle here; but you'd better do some long distance legwork about an
insurance company before you leave the U.S., as some ins cos here might
well (probably will) insure you but will take their own sweet time about
it or charge you the earth.

As far as selling before, or as, you leave - I suppose you could leave
it with a dealer to sell on a commission basis or somebody in this NG
might steer you in a trusted direction.

  3. We had our own pet Canuck here before he went back home.
Yes. But you will need someone friendly to provide the address at which
the bike will be registered. The Insco will want to know as well.
