It's true, it's true, you'd never see an engine like that win
    the Paris-Dakar!

You must really feel down but the main thing is no major injuries

A speedy recovery for both of you

  4. You're both welcome back anytime mate. Sorry to hear the big Beemer is
a loss, and I hope gNat patches up ok. Tweaked knees are a real
bugger, especially when those pesky tendons play up. Maybe we'll see
you next year (if you can coax her back on a bike and if your missus
    will let you!)

    Cheers,
    Ash.

  5. "in" joke Knobdoodle? My remarks were related to the tendency of the
GS1100 to take control away from it's rider when he/she leans the bike
too far left or right particularly when carrying a pillion passenger
and or travelling on rough roads. No amount of rebuttal by BMW
dealers or employees in this ng will change that fact. How long have
you owned that BMW? If you've only had it a short time, you were
unwise to take a pillion passenger until you were more familiar with
the bike. If you've owned it or other beamers for many years, and are
already aware of their instability in certain situations, it just goes
to show that the GS can fool even an experienced rider. That's no
    joke my friend !! {particularly with your daughter on the back}

I think Clem knows how to ride and crash any bike.
Can't you accept that this could have happened to any bike?

The injoke refers to a hooforaw a few weeks ago when a short but
determined woman wanted a GS and a lot of big boofy blokes reckoned that
she shouldn't buy one because it was too much for her.

She did buy it, crashed rather seriously in the snow alas (hit some very
hard objects) and the instant response was it was only because her feet
barely touched the ground that she crashed, no other reason possible,
that had she been a big boofy bloke of course she'd have saved it.

Guess Clem (with or without doodle) isn't big and boofy enough...

  14. Yes of course.
Anyone can crash any bike but my remarks about the BMW 1100GS
are still correct IMHO. I'm not saying they aren't great bikes, but
they do have issues we should be aware of when riding one of them.

  15. I don't think a small woman would be strong enough to handle a 1100GS
safely, when even a large beefy bod like me or Clem can lose it for
the reasons I mentioned. I'm not saying that happened to Clem, I
wasn't there at the time but a 1100GS BMW with a top box and pillion
passenger can be very top heavy and ungainly to handle, even for a big
    strong person.

  18. Been there, done that. gNat's already done more miles on a Sprint than most
    owners ride 'em.

phone. Hope you didn't upset the gout too much mate!

  20. I thought a Sprint would be the gnat's pyjamas. {pun}
Was the Sprint Clem's or gNat's bike?
