Actually, I don't think we have kangaroos either, I think all our
kangas are wallabies. Happy to be corrected on this one though. I
remember being told this a long time ago.

Maybe the koalas were all eaten by thylacines?

 

Did a bit of searching and found this to be false, the Forester
Kangaroo does exist here ...
