    Movie falls off its bike

    17sep03

THERE are some motorcycle clubs it doesn't pay to mess with.

Especially when they invite you out to a rather secluded property for a
    "chat".
The crew from Instinct Entertainment, who are making Strange Bedfellows with
Michael Caton and Paul Hogan in northern Victoria, decided wisely not to
    confront these bike gang jokers.

Hogan and Caton play a pair of dinky-di knockabout blokes who have to fool
the social security gumshoes into believing they're a happily together gay
    couple.

To learn the gentle art of being gay, our true-blue blokes visit a Sydney
club and get tangled up with a bunch of bike-riding gays.

Before filming started, the crew was thinking Harley-Davidsons.

An Albury-based bikie got wind of things and his fellow club members
collectively decided they didn't like the Harley-Davidson image being
tarnished by a movie about gays and pretend gays.

The bloke doing the bike buying was invited to a meeting out in the bush,
    which he declined.

The bikies were invited to a meeting at the film company office, which they
declined . . . and the decision was made not to keep looking for Harleys.

Strange Bedfellows producer Nigel Adell said bravely: "We're at liberty to
use any bike we want. There was never a Harley scripted, we're using a big
    red thing."

    We're told it's a Ducati.

The only difference between a gay biker and a straight biker is that a gay biker's helmet and jacket
    coordinates with their bike.

  9. I think we all assume Hatz can't get any. He's not bi-sexual, he's
    buy-sexual.
