Ferger scribbled on the back of a napkin:
    Tsk tsk.
That was the plan. Seems to work for a certain journo around here, too.

So? You can bid 399 and hope that no-one else bids more...

If you break it the parts are worth considerably more than 675, plus
it's a running bike with a long MOT and tax.

And yes, I know it looks like a pile o'shite.

    I have a K100 (parts bike), a K100RT and a K1100LT in my garage. The
only other K series BM I'd consider adding would be a K1.

  7. Why, out of interest? I've sometimes considered a standard 16v K100RS,
    but never a K1.

Oh, just 'cos I like the look of them; it's a ridiculous bike.

I mean how can something so heavy *ever* have been seriously considered
as a 'sports bike'- even by its manufacturer?

The Older Gentleman scribbled on the back of a napkin:
I quite like K1s as well, even when sober. They're not hugely practical
    compared to a K100 (no hard luggage) but there's a certain oddball-ness
    about them that appeals.

Go on then, if only to piss you off if I win it for my top bid.

    following:
It's still 99 quid over-priced at its current bid.

399.50 and I get more space in the garage? I can live with that...

Champ scribbled on the back of a napkin:
That's because a certain Mr Eaton bid on it. I had thrown in a
buy-it-now of 675 in case someone was *really* desperate.

I think it's UKRM conspiracy to make sure I don't buy another bike.

    Shit, I did too.

I really must get a breathalyser fitted to my mouse.

    Still, someone'll outbid me.

    Won't they? Won't they?

Sausage I can arrange, Pickelhaube may be a tad extra :)
    There is hope...

The Mk.II could take luggage. It was only the first editions that could
    only manage a toothbrush.

Because the generation one M-Tronic is an unreliable POS is why.
Granted with the horrible front mudguard replaced (1), the forks
reworked and the horrible rear bodywork replaced (1) it was the best
riding BMW of its time but the reliability problems outweighed the
advantages. A late non ABS 8V K100RS is a better bike.

The 16V RS is also an unpleasant beast to ride. It has terrible buzzy
vibes and traded the 8V's excellent torque for a little more top end.
Other than the big trail bikes (if you must) there is no point buying
any post 1990ish model BMW. Various UJM's exceed them in performance,
    build quality and reliability.

    (1) normal 16V K stuff fitted on fine.

Interesting stuff, but my one never missed a beat. In the time I had it
I did about 50,000 miles and just fed the BMW shop money for the usual
periodic servicing. Sorry but I liked the bodywork. The only thing about
it was that it was a bit heavy. It was much better than the R80RT it
    replaced.

A Ural is nicer than an R80RT, granted.
