Somebody Stop Me...

  1. ....thinking about buying a 2000 Ducati 750 SS. It's the wrong colour and
underpowered, but considering that I ride like a granny anything better
    would be wasted on me.

I'm taking it for a test ride tomorrow, Ged help me, so get those
    opinions/reasons in quickly.

Stop me before I buy another deeply unfashionable bike...

3 jumpers, a hot water bottle and plenty of incontinence pads probably.

    TOG has one.

    That should do.

  6. It's yellow <gack>, 8000 miles, going for £2650 and I won't see it in
the flesh until tomorrow. I'd like to haggle it down to £2500 at
    least, more if possible.
It's destined role would be weekend use plus hot standby for year-round
commuting when the GSXF is being spannered from time to time. A track
day and possible EOSM aren't out of the question either.
I'm confident enough with basic spannering if supervised by an adult
    with an HBOL or similar.
Good to know - I don't really want to finish the test ride on a
    recovery truck.
    Indeed it does - thanks.

Go on, you know you want it...

    Not a 750SS, but I have a '90 851 and I *love* it. Bags of character and
    great handling/brakes...

It's done 40k miles - still going strong and is pretty easy to work on (no -
I haven't had to do the valve shims yet!).

As has been said, parts generally not that pricey and they're more reliable
than many will have you believe...

However - they certainly need more TLC on a regular basis than your average
    Jap machine...

Oh - and Yellow - me likes Yellow on a duke (mind ewe, I have a yellow car -
so prolly have dodgy taste anyway! ;-)
