My commute is 20 miles a day. Costs me £70 approx every 3 weeks, and
I've thought about getting something small and poxy with 4 wheels, or a
    scooter.

Its not that I can't afford it, its just I resent financing the gubmint
    that much. [1a]
I know how you feel, when I use the bike I often take a longer route. [1b]

[1] Look, the car goes from A to B and is ok, the bike makes me feel
alive and I can more than double the speed limit with ease, thats worth
    paying for.

Too right. Probably be quicker too, depending on parking etc. and
certainly must be the healthy option.

I managed to barrel roll a C90 off the edge of a sharp hill on
Mousehold Heath in Norwich when I was delivering pizzas for Domino's. I
lost it on ice and slid across the road, up the verge, then we rolled
down the muddy hill still entwined until the bike hit a tree. I picked
myself and the bike up, kicked the forks and wheel straight then
carried on to deliver one very battered pizza to someone near the
    football ground.

When I got back to the shop someone commented on the phone call they'd
just received from the last customer I'd been to, something about their
pizza being completely monged. When I explained what happened it caused
a bit of mirth, until I went out to the C90 and noticed the huge crack
in the frame by the headstock[1]; I thought it was handling a bit funny
on the way back. Our mechanic bloke was called and it was back in
service an hour later with a nice shiny weld.

[1]The legshields had long since been destroyed. Norwich Domino's C90s
all had over 70K miles on their clocks and none of them had ever been
more than 4 miles from the city centre shop. All had been insurance
total losses at some point in their life, some of them many times over.

    Okay thanks.
And the age should not be cause for concern? It has been well looked
after I know. Even so, 18 years is a long time.

I'm not sure what you mean by that, but it is a 4-stroke engine if that
    whats what you mean.

    Thanks

Please, forgive me. Will "tosspot" suffice or is that also too lofty an
honour to bestow upon his person?
Newbie? To this group maybe, but I am by no means a newbie sir. If
indeed you are a chap. Difficult to tell from your handle.
But that takes all the fun out of it!

If I'd wanted a simple, straight answer I might have gone to one of
those god-awful "forum websites" or used google.

I don't accpet compliments from wankers. Please, never compliment me
    again.
What makes you think I don't like it? Your pomposity is rearing its
ugly, and I mean ugly, head again. Did mummy not put enough jam in your
    sanwiches today?
It might be hard for you living on your (sorry, "my") dole money in your
council slum but I've got a big comfy house, a moderately fast car and a
fit wife and gorgeous baby boy. I havent really suffered in years come
    to think of it.

And you're a full of yourself pompous ****. There's people who could
out-do you 10 times over in intelligence and acheivment on this
newsgroup, so don't go bragging about how good you are, there's always
    someone better.

Now **** off and get a life, wanker.

  16. No worries. They've been making the things for 40 years. If it's in good
    nick, it'll be fine.

  17. Ah, right. Half an hour on a push-bike. A 50cc would just about get
warmed up in that time. No bigger bike would.
