On the Tas Toy Run last year, a friend of my wife who was a pillion was
killed and her rider was critically injured on Grasstree Hill. Other riders
there at the time said there was a ute involved, but it appears that the
police either didn't believe them or didn't want to know. It was a week
before the police asked for any public help or info about a possible other
    vehicle involvement.

This evening on the TV news, a story says a local man has been charged with
a slew of offences, including fail to keep to the correct side, negligent
    driving, leave the scene, etc.

    Perhaps some justice may follow.

I remember you mentioning it Coney.
It's good to see they seem to have got the bastard (but I betcha' it was
just a flag on a computer that matched him up; not actual investigation!)

it wasn't part of the toy run, people were riding to the toy run meeting
    point at the DEC.

The case was mentioned in court yesterday, he has been charged with 7
offences and has pleaded not guilty to all of them. He will reappear in mid
    febuary

Sorry, Goaty, you're quite right right, they were on the way to join the Toy
    Run.

I was about 15 minutes behind them (in the car)
