If you were curious about how much crude oil is imported to the USA, sources
and the percentage of each source, go to http://www.api.org/ for the
    information.

You can also find information about the gasoline prices, how much gasoline,
diesel and etc is produced from a barrel of crude oil.

Do you think all the oil we use comes from the Middle East? You might be
surprised. See the list of countries the U.S. imports product from.

Ever wonder how much the cost of crude oil contributes to what you pay for a
gallon of gasoline? Or how much of what you pay for gasoline goes to state
and local taxes? Or why prices fluctuate and differ by region? For answers,
visit the comprehensive Primer on U.S. Gasoline developed by the U.S.
    Department of Energy.

API-Commissioned Publication Explains How Oil Market Works
American consumers, and policy makers, are anxious for answers to explain
why fuel bills are getting more expensive. They wonder what has caused the
price of crude to push past $70 per barrel and how that crude price affects
the price of gasoline and other refined products. In a project commissioned
by API, Lexecon. a unit of business consultancy FTI, has put together a
primer called "Understanding Today's Crude Oil and Products Markets."

Check out the entire website, plenty of good information there.

The American Petroleum Institute is working overtime to head off the
    enquiries
that are surely going to be the product of investigating committees, which
    will
be organized by the incoming Congress and Senate.. The Bushwhores have
desperately endorsed any and all studies and reports by any organizations
who are sympathetic to the corporations which dominant energy policy..

Ironically.. these reports contradict each other as the events demand.. For
example.. to justify raising the price of energy or fuel.. the corporations
    cite
the crude oil prices.. When it suits their needs, they then cite supply and
    demand
reasons for raising the price of energy and fuel.. Noticeably, the spin is
    to justify
raising prices and has little if no effect on reducing the prices..

Questions asked during the last six years of skyrocketing fuel and energy
    costs,
never engaged those executives about the obscene salaries and perks that
    those
executives enjoy.. The committees who have conducted these hearings during
    the
past six years have lobbed softball questions and accepted whatever
    doubletalk
responses these high powered executives have responded with..

Hopefully, the new incoming Congress and Senate will represent the people
    who
    elected them to office..
